Heartbroken

I wake, tears already filling my eyes.
Without turning my head I know you're not there with me.
My body is numb, except for the pain deep within me,
like the center of my universe I am tethered to it.
Somehow I am up staring into the mirror,
I touch my face 'cause I cannot believe It is me.
The vacant eyes say "no soul lives here anymore" ,
the lips tremble beyond my control as they fight to form the word " heartbroken ".
Once whispered it is more then I can bear.
I feel the life drain from me, but never far enough...iamthedark
