Description Made for my little sister 's birthday. She became quite a little Zuko fangirl after I showed her and my brother the entire Avatar series over the past few weeks.
The outfit I gave him here is based on one he wears in Book 3. All of the clothes are separate from the body, so she can change them in the future if she wants.
This doll is made entirely of yarn and fiberfill and was hand crocheted and embroidered by me.

Prince Zuko belongs to the creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender

If you like what you see, you should know that I do take commissions! I can crochet any character or anything else you would like - just ask!

Ah! Wonderful job on this one too! Especially for the scar, great detailing. That's cool that the clothes can be swapped out for others as well. If you don't mind me asking, how do you stop the belt from unraveling once the vest is removed?

Thanks!
If I recall correctly, the belt is just a single crocheted chain tied off at the ends. I just tied it around his waist and then tucked in the ends so they were out of sight.

Do you have a pattern or any hints on how I could crochet this? My nephew would love it!

Unfortunately, I never learned how to properly read and write crochet patterns, so I mostly make things up as I go along. With human dolls, though, I generally start at the top of the head and use increasing and decreasing to make it ball shaped (though now I've begun experimenting more with shaping faces, giving them noses, etc.). I continue downward from there with the neck, torso and limbs. You'll have to tie and cut off sometimes as you get to ends of limbs and then go back and attach again for the opposite limb. Or you can crochet the limbs separately and sew it together, whatever seems easiest for you. I do it different ways. I usually wait and embroider on face details and latch-hook in the hair last. Figuring out hands and feet is probably the hardest part, but you can avoid that and just do simple tube shaped arms and legs if you want. Also, you can either crochet the clothes as directly part of the body or make them removable. I like making them removable sometimes so I could make multiple outfits for the same character. Hope some of this rambling was helpful to you. I wish you luck!

If you really do want one, I do take commissions. I'd definitely be happy to make another Zuko.
My little sister really does love this one. It's not even her birthday yet, but she wouldn't let me hide him away and wrap him - so I had to give it to her early.

I would, but I'm pretty sure it'd cost a lot, cuz' I live in a.... Not too close or Mail Savvy place. And I ran out of points. But thanks for the offer!
Aww, that's so sweet!!

Ah, sorry about that. I didn't realize. Well, perhaps you could learn to crochet and make one for yourself. It's not too hard.

also the scar looks wonderful! did that take long? I just used fabric paint.

I don't recall exactly how long it took, but I don't think it took too long. I generally watch movies and TV while I work on dolls, so I don't keep track of my time very well.
I've never used fabric paint on any of my dolls. I'm not sure how well that would interact with the texture of crocheted material. But I imagine if one applied it to a smoother material, it would work great.
Send me a link to pictures of your doll when you're done, would you? I'm interested in seeing how he turns out.

I'm actually trying to make my own Zuko doll but have been stuck on the clothes. So I might borrow what you did, if that's okay?

Yeah, that would be fine. I based it off of an outfit he wears in book 3: [link]
Otherwise, I found this to be full of other useful ideas: [link]
Thanks for the fave, by the way.
What are you making your doll out of? If you're planning on crocheting the clothes out of yarn, I recommend cheating a little bit, like I did: I didn't make a full shirt underneath the vest. I made the vest first, then made and sewed on sleeves. After that I made and attached two flaps to the inside, so that when I closed and tied the vest, they would overlap and make it look like a whole shirt. Making a full shirt and then putting the vest over it would have made it too bulky. I can take some pictures for you if my description here doesn't quite make enough sense.

I crocheted his head (which is all I have right now, I stopped to figure out how to make the rest and in the meantime made others like Cas and Sherlock and the Ninth Doctor) with yarn...I wasn't really sure about the rest of him.

No, that description definitely makes sense! and thank you!
