I like how the dark and light colors contrast throughout this photo, the colors of the insect really stand out against the background, which is great.
I think the shallow DoF works for this photo because you've only got one part focused. However, I do feel as though the focus could be a little sharper and perhaps a little more of the head could be in focus as well.
I'm also a little wary about the composition...I think you could've positioned the camera more to the right and captured a little less of the insect's body, because to me it's just a little distracting to have that big brown bulk in there. If the head were more in the left rule of thirds, it might create a sense of motion and direction, like it's crawling somewhere. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/n/n… " width="15" height="15" alt="
