My newest painting: Avant.Sorry for spamming you with so many new paintings, but drawing and painting (especially drawing and painting dresses) just calms me down somehow, and that's exactly what I need at audit periode ^^
BUT, nearly half of my exams are over by now, so spamming time is over soon, haha ^^
I hope you like this one; I chose one of my old sketches for this and worked it out; I set the focus on the dress, so there's much more detailsthere than on the figure itself.

It's true, the skirt has way more detail than the rest of the picture. That does make the focus go there, but at the same time, it makes the skirt seem disconnected from the rest of the picture. What I mean is, you've got the amazingly realistic play of light over all those detailed and and intricate folds in the dress, and then you've got the bodice and hair as a couple simple patches of color--and while both look great, they don't match. It seems that even the ruffled sleeve, which seems to be the same type of material as the skirt, doesn't quite match the skirt because it doesn't have the same level of realisticness.
If I could make a suggestion, it would be to increase the realisticness but not the detail on the bodice, sleeves, and hair. That way the focus would still be on the skirt, but the skirt would fit with the rest of the painting. But then again, I don't know the first thing about digital painting, so don't let me tell you what to do!
I love the actual design of the dress; the smooth bodice emphasizes the girl's dramatic pose. The little fairy wing things all over are beautiful too. They give the whole picture a floaty, magical look even before you realize that they're shaped like fairy wings' it's just something in the pretty way you've made light go through them.
And then I realized that there was a water droplet in her hair, reflecting the lightning strike. And that. Is. Amazing.

Well, painting detsils IS increase of realitsicness, so that's what I'm gonna do, when I have the time to! ^^
There's severeal things on the pose itself I'll change, too, it's quite too much ^^
I guess I will do some other elements like the drop in her hair, because it makes the painting more fluid!

I dunno, I like the exaggeration of the pose. But I guess it's your artwork.
