Description This is a painting from last years work. It was awarded a large art prize (North Shore Art Awards, Premier winner) in a small city. Many of the people at the exhibition, being rather conservative, seemed to have a difficult time looking at it. I think most of the crowd felt safer with landscapes.

To me, this is one of my darker paintings. The three milk bottles represent the holy trinity (father, son, holy ghost) The old-fashioned glass milk bottles indicated wholesomesness yet the blank look on the girl's face and the fact that the milk is dribbling from her mouth suggest that they are being forced upon her. .

Geeze....So what comes first, the chicken or the egg? (the interpretation or the painting?

This is big art. I had not guessed the symbolical meaning had I not read the description, but the description And the bleak, malevolent atmosphere in the painting... Wow.

Yeah, this is a scary, scary picture. Stick with much safe subjects like oil wells and factories.

so you know the chills? i don't even know if they were "famous" in new zealand. here they were so independent i never actually met anyone who knew them except my friend eric who introduced me to them.

i don't really know them though they are really famous here(i'm secretly an american -so i can usually get away with this sort of ignorance) but my partners brother worked with the martin philips on video projects. I could surely get martins number and ask him around for tea --thats how small new zealand is.

cool. i don't listen to them much anymore, but they'll never disappear completely from my collection. esp. the earlier stuff.
it's nice to live in a small country - it's the same in finland, whenever i meet a new person its near 100% sure that we have common aquaintances. it gives me a sense of safety, being home. sometimes.

oh, i like this so much. all your beautiful characters - but never kitchy... slightly surreal.
...a large prize in a small city, that's funny.
you're from new zealand right? so far away... i used to like the chills a lot, but that probably was before your time... sigh...

i don't know about that! i don't reveal my age on deviant art---might discourage the teenyboppers from looking at my art...
