When the news of Yellow Field Stables passing Golden King reached Canada - the news hit FCS particularly hard. They had one of the stallions daughters and was a very important player into their jumping program. It had been a while since Spatch had her last show, and they were itching to find the right show for her. And with the news of the passing King, Jenny knew what she had to do - enter in memory of the mare's sire.
they were excited to try their hands at new show grounds at Askeboda's grand opening show, as well as to see some familiar faces, EVEN SAM FROM YFS WAS THERE!
They watched from the sidelines as he led around the Hanoverian mare Degas from Imperial stables, the pair looked and did fantastic!
Jenny had worked hard with Spatch over the past couple of weeks to get her show ready again. Thankfully it wasnt to hard, and it was mainly just more boom-proofing and practicing the 'scary' jumps.
The jumps at the show where to be decorated in Christmas theme so they had to make sure they were ready for whatever might be in store for them.
When It was Jenny and Spatch's turn to go out, she took a deep breath before pushing the mare into the arena. She walked around the top half of the arena to get her settled and a look at some of the jumps, but it didnt seem to make much of a difference. The mare was excited under neith her and could feel her jigging, ready to go. When the buzzer rang, she gave the frisky mare a pat before pushing her up into an easy canter to the first jump, which went over nicely and easily.. a little to easy for Spatch. What was this mare up to? Jenny stayed on guard for the mare "Spatch what are you up to?" Jenny said down to the mare, her ears flicking back towards Jenny, listening.
As Jenny picked up the pace, She could feel Spatch getting more jittery under her. The mare tried to bolt at a couple jumps and vere away from the scary ones, but Jenny managed to encourage her over, "up!" she called out to the mare as the roan sprung over the oxer, after trying to refuse, but luckily the managed to keep the rail up. "knock it off spatch...." She huffed under her breath, spatch tossing her head in response. "Come on girl, one more line...easy... easy!" Jenny tried to talk her down and sit deep in the seat but it was no use, Jenny's voice getting louder. The mare looked and felt like she was about to run out at the last minute, but she quickly changed her mind and popped over the jump. "Jesus Christ spatch..." Jenny hissed under her breath as they went over. Jenny was hoping that would be the last dirty trick that the mare had in store, but oh no. Spatch was still having fun...
Jenny was already stirred in the tack from the jump as it was, but upon landing, Spatch decided to through a buck, tossing Jenny out of the tack. A gasp came from the audience "Jenny!" Angel called out from the crowd as everyone watched the rider hold on for dear life. "She's not going ot make it, shes not gonna make it!" Angel gasped. The mare saw the bottom part of the line - the last jump of the course and her feet picked up, while Jenny still hanging onto the side of the saddle. There was only 7 strides between the jumps and If Jenny wanted to save this, she better act quickly.
Little did anyone know though... this wasnt the first time the mare had pulled a dirty trick like this. Usually she did this at home, so this was the first time at a show - but miraculously Jenny was able to pull herself back into the saddle, her face buried in her neck with a very furious and pissed off look on her face but she was able to sit upright again, just in time before Spatch launched herself over oxer. Unfortunately, Jenny wasnt able to get her stirrups back and had little to no contact with the reins. HOLD ON!
Jenny wasnt sure how they did it, but she managed to stick the landing feeling the full impact and used every once of her body to stay on as they galloped towards the finish line, where she was finally able to get control of the mare and work her back down to a trot and exiting the arena. They survived the course but would that be enough?Did Spatch's fun and games put them at risk for time? one things for sure, they made it out alive and after a run like this, thats all Jenny really wanted at this time.
SPATCH YOU LITTLE SHIT! I tell ya, its a good thing that mare can jump and is uber pretty cuz some times....SOME TIMES!!! *shakes fists* siiiigh mares, what are you going to do? XD
anywho,
Worked my but off on this! I had big plans for it and Im really glad I stuck with it all but I think it creates a pretty interesting story to look at.
This whole thing was a major love/hate experience that I dont wish to fist again for a while.
And whats this in the last panel?! The spirit of Absint keeping Jenny safe over the jump!?
