I think the best part of this image is the attitude you captured from the meerkat. Very nice!
That being said, I feel that the overall composition of this shot could be better. The meerkat doesn't really seem to dominate the frame, rather he is off to the side. Of course, he is the only subject in the frame so that allows him to maintain control of the space.
Also, while the blurring of the background allows the meerkat to stand apart, I think there is also something to be said about the colors at work here. I feel that the darks and browns of the background are very near to the colors found on the meerkat and thus he is pulled into the background and isn't allowed to stand out as well as he could.
But overall I think you did a very nice job capturing the meerkat and his expression. Any more of the meerkat's body, or any less, and the effect may have been lost. Nice shot!

Wow!! Such a gorgeous shot in such high detail. You can almost feel the texture of the fur here! The great thing about the way you created the texture is the focus and out of focus area all around the photo -- especially the blurred out background. The white border around the photo also create emphasis on the main subject in the photograph.
Also, the colour contrast can only the one of someone with a true eye for photography. Everything fits beautifully and peacefully around one another.
Overall amazing job with this photo, it really jumped out at me. It is totally incredible!
