Description
This was lingering around for literally weeks. I rushed so it looks messy.
Sorry.They're lit up with a strange light source because I wanted the darkness around them to provide a huge contrast. There's a light source shining from Milotic onto Gyarados and vis versa.
So a stupid friend of mine told me that my picture looks bad because the lighting is weird and that "[I] can't do that because that's not the point of the piece." What do YOU think about it? Do you think the light sources make it look bad? Was my intention to create odd lighting in the piece a failure? Let me know <3
I got inspiration from some photo/base, I forgot what it was though so if you find it let me know.

The lighting look great in my opinion. It gives off that vibe of everything around them rejecting their love, with the center light bringing them together.

I really agree with this statement. Besides, What's the point of creating art if you're not willing to experiment and possibly fail (which this definitely does not).

I think the lighting you chose for this piece works rather well - it highlights the characters which is what you're wanting to draw the focus to.
The top half of both characters look fantastic! Alas, once you hit the hips on both characters, the quality diminishes significantly on their lower half. Their top halves are proportioned while the bottom halves are not. I'd love to see this piece finished when you have more time to spend to make it look how you wanted it to without having to speed through it (as you mentioned you rushed finishing it). I'd also recommend fixing the perspective on Gyarados's left foot/leg 'cause actually standing like that would probably hurt.
Awesome concept, lovely lighting, just needs a little more TLC on the bottom halves
