It's as though the water is washing away the crimson (as I perceive to be a symbol of desires, lusts, blood i.e.) from the apple itself, transforming it to a tranquil green. I see this further emphasized by the water droplets on its left edge, as they seem to be partially cleansing the form of the apple itself.
