Once upon a viewing of ‘ollack’ I doodled up an iconic little sketch that eventually became known as ‘moon’.

I liked the idea well enough, and many people who saw the original were very impressed by it. Having a deadline for a show coming up in a few short weeks, I wracked my brain to provide me with a ‘sun and a ‘stars’ to accompany my little ‘moon’. I got them done just in time for the opening and by the look of them it showed.

So I stewed on this for a few months until I finally shrugged and resolved to find a solution to this problem ‘someday’ and tucked it away in the back of my mind’s filing cabinet.

Nearly a year later, Amy saw a design contest ad for some ladies product. We both looked at the ad and said, “I think ‘moon’ would work for this!” With a little size modulation, ‘The Moon’ was reborn.

But this time the fount of creativity did not run dry on me and ‘The Sun’ and ‘The Stars’ followed hot on her heals. Vast improvements on my almost pitiful earlier attempts. Carrying through the stained glass elements to all the pieces was Amy’s idea and insistence. So they were born again also.

The design contest? Oh. Well. After reading the fine print I decided I like owning the rights to my own work much too much to just give them away on a chance I might win. Otherwise I may not have been able to share them here with you.

I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I loved working on them. To me they come from that great untapped place in each of us, which informs and orders the unconscious.

I guess what I’m really saying is that the Art comes from you.
