It's understandable that you could confuse the blade as a katana. Although Koreans generally did use shorter blades, there were exceptions, including the jedok geom, which was a long-sword presented to officials and military officers. If you have the time to look up Korean weaponry you may be surprised at how varied their blades are. Hope this answers your question
