I'm experimenting.. 8DA friend (kinla) pointed out to me that photoshop can make images with no backgrounds..
I had always assumed it would f*ck up because of the checkers pattern it creates as a backdrop
so i thought I'd try it out with this.Also, as the title says, I'm getting into character.
The chara here is supposed to be me impersonating Zant from LOZ Twilight Princess. And although the clothes look strange, that's only because i haven't drawn Zant's surcoat or armour.
I do know how they look, but I wanted to focus structurally on the jacket/coat part.
Because I need to figure out how to make it so I can cosplay Zant at the October London expo
even if it means I have to painstakingly copy the swirly details on the sleeves all over again XDBy the way, I apologise for the way I drew the twili magic. That's got to be the worst magic effect ever photoshopped >_<
Also I know this picture has faults, which is dreadful of me (and may be edited later),
but I WAS only messing around with this.

I personally think you did a good job on this, Twili magic is rather hard to replicate cause it has a very strange 'essence' to it, kinda like it flakes away and pixilates... -sigh- i miss that game...
OOh and i look forward to seeing that costume in october

hmm.. I'm probly not gunna finish the zant costume in time I've realised. But that's ok because I have THE niftiest loli dress ever that I bought at glastonbury festival (lol) so I'll wear that if it's not done by then

You have no idea how many times I failed at shiny/glowing effects for this magic DX
in the end I just gave up and did some swirly shapes... special effects will have to wait until I have some idea what I'm doing..

I just used a bright color and lowered its opacity so it was a little see through.

dodge is good, but i dont like the burn tool...XO

I don't really like either of them very much... I tried using them properly for the first time today, and to be blunt I could do better light/shade/texture effects just by colouring in... :0

Yea, I like dodge for eye highlights, and in some pastel hair colors...but they look to cheap for anything else. especially skin...DX

I hate how the burn tool makes it a burnt orange (LOL...) and then brown...

Hm? -blinks-....well, I find the outfit rather nicely done, I adore the aqua markings on the arm that is down, and the arm making the magic looks really cool because it looks like a mouth...even if you weren't going for that I'm not sure.
Something about the stance, I don't know why for sure, but I really like it, more hips down though.
And I find you did just lovely on the magic affect, really I do. ^w^

XD yeah, the casting hand does look like a mouth.. it was a little bit intentional, even though that wasn't what I was supposed to be doing, my brain was busy going 'lol, I can make this look like a funny plant mouth'
