Part 5 of 6In Norse mythology, Freya is a goddess of love and fertility, and the most beautiful of the goddesses. She is the patron goddess of crops and birth, the symbol of sensuality and was called upon in matters of love.
Her attributes are the precious necklace of the Brisings, which she obtained by sleeping with four dwarfs, a cloak (or skin) of bird feathers, which allows its wearer to change into a falcon, and a chariot pulled by two cats. All these things were gifts from various lovers, who included her brother, Frey. She divides the slain warriors with Odin: one half goes to her palace, while the other half goes to Valhalla. Women also go to her hall.
This is the fifth of a six piece portfolio for Independent Study in Digital Drawing, with piece examining a uniquely feminine trait as represented by a goddess. Freya represents sexuality.

I really like this piece. the only critique I have is that she is a little too thin. We Norse women are robust beefy gals. She's beautiful, without being too overly sexualized. Nicely done.

This is an excellent picture of both a goddess and a woman.
I like the way this avoids the extremes of coy and puerile. This shows a powerful, mature woman as a goddess, unusual these days when most images of goddesses are porno-pixies, Victorian waifs, or clumsy political statements.

She and her brother were given to the Aesir as hostages during the first war between the gods and Vanir. Both of them were always depicted as "bright and fair" along with Baldr and Loki. Because that phrase was not used often except in these cases (and the fact that Freyr was called the prince of elves) and that, in Freyr and Freyia case, their magic was part of their being and not their possessions, it is believed that Tolkien used them as the source for his elves.

Well done. She also cries tears of amber for her lost love Oter or Otter depending. (and her hip is fine) This is my favourite because not only of my Norske blood but I tend towards Norse Paganism.

Love norse mythology, my favorite god is Loki who during the edda (norse poem) accused Freya and Frey of being incestuous. As he was insulting all the gods when they were all invited to a party minus Loki. The Aesir (group name of norse gods) incest is considered taboo. Frey and Freya are brother & sister yet they are married to each other.
