Description All right, so I know this is almost exactly the same as the other lock, but I just loved this one even more. So a week later, I'm submitting this second picture that's almost identical to the first I've decided that since I take my camera everywhere with me, I'm going to make a point to photograph any nifty locks I see! Hooray!

I really like this, but I'm not sure why. It's as if the rust adds character to the lock, it makes it more interesting than a simple photo of an inanimate object because there's something more to it you know? Ah and my pretentious wankery goes on!

Great shot! Are you using a macro? I really like photos that have this kind of rust in them. It adds wonderful texture. Nice one!

Yep! I use macro on so many of the shots in my gallery -- of all the features on my camera, it's my favorite! Thanks for your comment!

Great composition and I love the smooth shiny curve backed by the red/brown textured rust. Angles are good too, with the lock body towards us and the rusted plate more oblique (uh... I think it's oblique...). And the lock body is in water? (There's a lovely rounded highlight softening the bottom of the lock.)

Jessibell In reply to obenson [2005-03-19 19:20:07 +0000 UTC]

It's actually not in water...just hanging from an old shed door in my backyard...I can definitely see how you might think so though. Thanks so much for your input

Absolutely gorgeous shot! Lovely example of macro photography! The composition is very nice, and the you made very good use of the available lighting conditions! The point of focus is exactly where it should be in my humble opinion, right on the top of the lock and on the word "hardened". Color and contrast are also very good! I can't immediatly pick out anything for you to improve on in this piece! Great job!

Nice shot indeed, there's a good contrast going on here, although the grain is a little too apparent for personal tastes.

This is VERY pretty. A beautiful photograph. I like the contrasts and I like that I actually can see a reflection in the lock.

iridel [2004-11-20 05:06:00 +0000 UTC]

i like the soft focus, it contrasts with the "hardened" printed on the lock. it almost seems like you have two separate focuses, its cool, never really seen that... my only critique is the tad bit of noise
