The Meeting Of The Mama Bears

Before I left Daisy to attending her training session with Nat Blake, I took a selfie of us. For those few seconds, I did my best keep my smile from withering to a shaky shadow of bittersweet poignancy. More than the photo itself was the memory that would be etched in my mind of that day.

After I came home that afternoon, I stood in front of my bookshelf, looking for my hardbound copy of Proust and sighed softly, recalling Daisy's chance encounter with Nat in a library. My dear reading Kitten...in the past, we had shared some laughs about our fondness for Russian bad boys in literature and certainly had our share of fangirling over Homer and Shakespeare. But now, I had another page of a literary memory to fill up the mental scrapbook of my sweet friend; I had not been surprised in the least that she would have made a new friend in the library as she searched for À la recherche du temps perdu. But unlike in Proust's work that described the sweet taste of madeleines upon the lips to evoke memories, I knew that whenever I would see a flash of red worn by a blonde girl training somewhere or see a stranger with pensive, emerald green eyes or warm, hazel eyes, it would bring me back to this day.

Putting my CD player on in the living room, I turned on the English version of "I Will Wait For You" from "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" and hummed along softly as I went about with my day:

Anywhere you wander, anywhere you go

Every day remember how I love you so

In your heart believe what in my heart I know

That forevermore I'll wait for you...

Serendipity is the cause of this short tribute to my friends DaisyPierce2000 and Brucedojo . It really is so beautifully fragile and haphazard when things fall into place. Thank you both for being on DA and making this place brighter for an odd soul like me.
