So working with caustics in mental ray. here is a glass of wine that was SO much trouble >_<caustics hate me.

i just got back from visiting her. she was in the hospital. which was a huge shock for me. i had all my finals delayed a week so that i could be with her. thankfully she is recovering well. ^_^

Still, it's a nice piece. The shadow is translucent and properly colored, the wine warps the objects behind it... Lookin' good!

I set the refraction number by a scientific chart. so the wine and the glass distort light differently.

3dStudio max is cool, but maya is powerful! it's just complicated, open ended, and needs a lot of effort to get something worthwhile.
