Description
First thing I do when I get back, finally paint the picture of Kasdeya I've had sitting on my desk for nearly a year. Sometimes I just can't get into a commission no matter HOW much I love the character/characters. Luckily Jude still loves me, otherwise she would have strangled me by now. It's not quite what I had in mind but... it'll do. I'm ... surprisingly pleased with it.Water colors, colored pencils, ink.
Kasdeya belongs to my beloved who leaves in five hours and so I'm rather sad.

From the wings, the swirling patterns on his Kimono, to the angle of his head and flowing hair. It all came together perfectly.
I often let ideas stew for the longest time. Most of my art in fact needs to age in my head a while before it can spill out like a river onto it's canvas.

Have you ever dreamed yourself painting your painting before you start it? I've been doing that a LOT lately and it's so strange because I feel more confident when I paint. Like... 'oh hey, I did this already, I can TOTALLY do it again"

Yes I have .. and I also paint it in my head beforehand many times as well, working out most of the kinks up there in the vast hollows of my mind. haha

The wings are absolutely gorgeous, and I love the pose! The outstretched hand to match the wing is a nice touch

ohhh that hair is definitely a scene-stealer. I love all the highlights in it, the way it lays over his shoulder, and the blue swatches of light caught in it. I can tell you had fun with it. His layered kimono is quite nice as well. Mmmm makes me really want to play around with pencils, pen, and paint.

I can never get white hair right -sigh- and my main character has white hair -grumble- there fore I stink lmao but it looks awesome I love the wings and the arm for some reason

actually it wasn't too bad. Try this... in pencils I used cool greys 70%, 50% and 30%. Then I used some very light blues, greens and purples. I drew THOSE in first, and then went over it with white ink to pick out the white highlights. There's very little actual 'white' in the drawing.

*stares* Dude.. the hair is flat out blinding me.. I love it!!! I'm a bit of a silver hair freak.. I hope mine turns that color.. Just fabulous.. it really does look metallic there.. and it makes such an awesome contrast with the blues and greens.. You've officially hit my absolutely favorite colorscheme..lol

*beams* thanks sugar! I'm still working on things, I need to practice my faces next so I can really do some nice facial work, buuuut I think this is a step in the right direction as far as contrast and highlights go.

The detail on his hair is amazing, the way the light reflects off the strands on the top of his head... I don't know how you can paint such minute detail.

aw thanks sugar. I was trying to take todd's advice and work on the highlights. So the hair is actually done in colored pencils, then I used that fantabulous white ink to paint out the brightest highlights.
