Description A watercolour of Doc Scratch enjoying the view of the city life below.

Anyways, what I used on this picture was the following.
- Strathmore cold press paper
- Reeves Sap Green watercolour paint (Normally I'd never use this paint, but the green was the brightest one I had at the moment.)
- A bright green Foray inking pen - medium pt (It washes pretty easy and runs smoothly on pretty much any paper I have used.)
- Assorted brushes.

Any other questions you can just ask away.

I made a practice Scratch before hand. He's pretty tiny but if you want to see it, go here. -> [link]

I'm going to open critiques because I actually worked pretty hard on this.

Thanks for viewing and enjoy~

This is exactly what I am looking for and yeah I am noticing the mistakes. Thank you for pointing them out, especially the suit shadows. I didn't even think I was going to a background because I had painted scratch first and was just going to leave it. Man I feel like a ditz, haha.

The great thing about water colours is you can always go back and edit. xD

Thanks again, I really appreciate it. <3

Aha, yes, I can see how that would be a problem for the background. It's not especially distracting or anything. I may have exaggerated a bit.

And always a pleasure.

Would it be weird to ask you to look at things before I post them? Like over msn or a note? :u

As a Homestuck fan myself, I just had to critique this. This is a nice, professional work of fan art. In your comments you said you worked pretty hard at this and it really shows. While Homestuck fan art is nothing new, I have to say that the realism of it is a breath of fresh air from the typical cartoonish style that is commonly seen. The green theme is bright enough to catch somebody's attention but not so bright that you have to look away a minute later. I love the effort on the railing and the shading. The shadowing is also very impressive and blends in well with the environment. Also, very well done on the clouds. The buildings in the background could have a little more definition but you put enough detail into Doc and the foreground that it doesn't take away anything from the over all image. All in all very well done.

Thank you very much. The railing actually took the longest out of the whole picture.

At first I had just painted Scratch which was a completely noobie mistake for water colouring if your going to have backgrounds. Usually I try to do some sort of background first. So I end up working around him carefully. But it was worth it in the end. :3 <3

Completely. Despite that mistake it came out beautifully. I really think water color is an underrated medium and I love to see works that show off its potential. It's not just for elementary kids!

Not only is this a supremely exemplar painting of Scratch and I adore it, but it's also a display of skill in watercolors I one day aspire to have.
But mostly...

OMG SO PRETTY. I can't. Stop looking at it.

^___^ I love Scratch so much and hes just...gorgeously depicted here.

I'm quite impressed. The fact that you were able to use just one color for the whole picture and yet still manage to portray so many different values is just marvelous. The atmosphere, the pose... pretty much everything about this rocks. Nicely done.

In a way, I think that actually helps out. By limiting your tools, you force yourself to find more creative approaches of getting the idea you want to come out.

Which MS paint adventure is Doc Scratch in? I've just finished Jailbreak and started on the one with the young man John. Is that one called Homestuck?
Beautiful pick, too. I wish I could use watercolors like you do.

Gosh, I wish I was good enough to offer critique, but other than saying uhhhh something about the wall, I think there's something off about the shadow he's casting on it...
Scratch himself is looking great though, and hnnng I love watercolours!
So yes this looks pretty awesome.
