Description
This painting is a depiction of Dracula, as prtrayed by Bela Lugosi in Universal Pictures 1931 horror classic "Dracula". It was done in oil on a 12x18 canvas. It's is the second painting of a series of three commisioned pieces depicting Universal Horror film characters Frankenstien's Monster, Dracula, and the Wolfman.

I originally did this without the Castle Dracula in the background, leaving it dark with a suggestion of fog. I added the castle at the request of the patron, but wasn't completely satified with the result. I believe that keeping the background dark would have strengthened the effect of the lighting of Dracula's eye's and penetrating gaze. With the backdrop added as an afterthought, the effect is diminished.
