Description I've been sitting on this thought for a little bit. This is Tasha getting pregnant with Todd.

I believe an explanation is in order. (I need to post that timeline...)
Ok, so they are not on Kotia in this part. There is a portion of the story where Luca falls, and is kinda "banished." His memory was whipped, and he has to collect "parts of himself" to regain his memory and return to Kotia. The catch? He has no idea that he needs to do this. He was turned into a child and appointed parents. (They lived in the forest for fear of the natives that lived in the area outside of it) They were accidentally murdered, and Luca ended up growing up in isolation from society. When he was about 20, he got into an accident and was found by woman named Rachel. (Whom he ends up befriending) She gradually introduced him into society.

There is a lot more, and I left much out, but Luca and Tasha marry each other, and such. Tasha quickly learns that she just married the "purest virgin" ever! (Because of the isolation)

So, yep. The guy had no idea how to have kids, let alone, what being pregnant meant.

Man, I wish I could explain that better...

"You have no idea what that means, do you?" "Nope."

Classic!

As usual, gotta love the total expressiveness of your characters. Hey, I wonder if I just made up a new term - "total expressiveness." That's when every part of the character goes into creating the expression - every part of the face, the body language, and the words. You're really good with that.

I can just imagine Luca's thought process in the third through last panels, too.

Once again, reading your description begets a few questions.

Good job!

Jestloo In reply to Steve-C2 [2012-11-18 15:18:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh, good! I was hoping that it was still funny for those "outside" of the Luca Story loop.

"Total expressiveness"
Well, I'm glad I'm the example! Thanks!

Lol! The poor man can't wrap his mind around it! (If you knew how his mind worked, he'd be searching every single file to find any hint of the meaning. But nothing came up, so he couldn't even make an educated guess)

Yeah, not proud of that description... The timeline would really help, but it would take a lot of time to explain it in the description. So I've been putting it off. ^^"

By all means, ask away! I love answering questions! (I'm going to church now, so I'll get back to ya afterwards)

Steve-C2 In reply to Jestloo [2012-11-18 16:58:06 +0000 UTC]

Yep! Luca has no way of knowing what's going to hit him!

You're welcome.

For the third panel, I imagined the thought process around these lines: "pregnant? what's pregnant? I have no idea, but she is acting and sounding happy, so it must be good, so I'll say that it's good, and hope she doesn't notice I don't know what's going on."

For the fourth panel, I can imagine him thinking: "pleasedon'tnoticeIdon'tknowwhatpregnantmeans," then "uh-oh she wants more of a response and I don't know what she's talking about yet" He was probably hoping that she'd say more before expecting more input!

I don't think much about the description; it gives a background. The story is something else (like what I'm doing for mine). So the fact the description raises questions, is really not a problem, and probably to be expected.

After the Karab bio list, you want me to ask you the questions?

Oh-kay!

1. What did Luca do to fall to the point of banishment?

2. Why was his memory wiped, and why did he have to collect "parts of himself" to regain the memory - and why was he not told this was the task (or was it part of the punishment)?

3. Was it the intent to have Luca regain his memories?

4. How was it that his parents were "accidentally" murdered?

5. Just wondering - is there a connection between Tasha and Rachel? What is Rachel's interest in Luca (is it just friendship)?

6. So Luca gets Tasha pregnant but doesn't know what it means. Does this mean that Tasha assumed he must know something, and/or is she again surprised by his level of cluelessness?

Jestloo In reply to Steve-C2 [2012-11-18 20:40:43 +0000 UTC]

Lol!! XD
I think you conveyed his thoughts better than I ever could!!

Yeah, but I left so much out! That's why I must answer your questions. It's really confusing.

I enjoy answering them.

1. Unfourtunatly, this is THEE haziest part of the Luca Stories and me and my brothers are still trying to work it out. (But it's a critical part and affects the rest of the story) The gist of it is that Luca (some how, and intentionally) ends up eating the cursed black fruit. (I know, reminiscent of Eden...) The curse of the fruit turns the eaters soul pitch black.
(Every thing now is set--->) So, Luca ends up repeating Karab's fall. But, Luca wasn't made to keep up a lasting battle with the gods. (Remember?) After he lost, he was restrained, and prepared to be utterly destroyed. At the last moment, Ixx had mercy on him, but Zango still wanted him to be punished. (Beyond just being tortured) After a bit, they came to an agreement. (And with out a fight!)

2. (Still continuing from 1.) The gods decided to send him to another dimension. When they cleansed his soul, his memory was removed and some parts of his soul were taken out and placed in seperet "containers." (Each piece housed some of his abilities/powers.) When they finished, Ixx turned him into a child, and they opened a portal to the other dimension. A group of Kotians went with them, including Laiten. Of the group, Ixx chose a couple to raise Luca and they swore never to tell him about who he was or about Kotia. They were suppose to set him up to complete his task, but they died before they could tell him.

To answer then; the "parts" are his powers. (The final one houses his memories) Even though he doesn't know about them, if he sees one, he becomes transfixed to it and gains a intence desire too obtain it. (Almost like a trance) As soon as its in his hands, he absorbs it.

The memory wipe was both part of the punishment and slight nececity. (Imagine being two and still possessing all that knowledge)

3. Yes. In order to succeed and return to Kotia. (He still would live forever, so there is a good chance that he would make it) Luca collected his final piece at 38.

4. I actually have written that story.
I need to come up with how they look, so I can illustrate it. So...I think I'll wait on answering that...

5. Rachel is a human friend of Luca's He first met her on the day of his parent's death. (Tempted to say more, but I must resist!) When winter set in, Luca couldn't take care of himself. (He was in the forest) He ended up wondering outside of the forest and happened to collapsed at her front door. Instead of freaking out like the other families that tried to kill him, Rachel's parents took him in. He stayed for awhile, until trouble came to them. Then he fled back into the woods, and Rachel didn't see him until he got into an accident when he was 20. (She's a few years older than him) She was over joyed and took him in. After lots of stress, from both parties, she managed to slowly introduce him into society.

Their relationship has changed over time. It went from, brother and sister, to mother, to finally, close friends. Tasha is also good friends with Rachel, but not as close as Luca.

6. She is "again" surprised. When they married, Luca didn't even know the "process" of having kids. (Yeah...that was an... interesting night...)

Fwoo!! That was long! XD

Heh, I can understand the guy point of view.

Cool!

1. I see a difference between Karab's fall and Luca's fall, in that Karab's fall was because he wasn't happy in his place because he wanted to be more. Luca just got hungry, and followed up with dumb by eating the fruit. After that he rebels. That about right?

2. They tortured Luca? Then followed up with converting him to a powerless 2 yr old? I can understand the need to wipe memories because they put him into a child's body. Was there a risk that something would have happened to the parts that would have them destroyed, and if that had happened, what would have become of it? (In other words, did Ixx and Zango plan for such an event, and what was that plan)? Since Luca's guardians, who knew about the task, died before they could prepare him, what were Ixx and Zango going to do (or, what did they do)?

Yeah, definitely a Greek/Roman god thing going on there with those two. A little bit nicer, though, since they don't intentionally kill innocent people for what amounts to being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

3. "Good chance" ha! It's sensible punishment, now that I think on it a little, since Luca will have to work for the place, and probably be less likely to do something stupid to lose it again. If the gods only fight every few hundred years, they could probably spare the time to have Luca finding his stuff again.

4. Makes sense.

5. Again, makes sense.

6. I can imagine Tasha's reaction now. After all the effort spent on their first night, and she probably assumed Luca knew what could happen, and he didn't and still doesn't. She's probably thinking, "oh my ...

Jestloo In reply to Steve-C2 [2012-11-19 01:30:11 +0000 UTC]

1. No... He knew about the fruit and its affects. (I said this was hazy) Some how in the story, Luca will end up willingly disobeying, and the effects of the curse just makes things worse.

2. I forgot to mention. As soon as Luca was created, he was given a stern warning that if he EVER rose up against them, he would be destroyed. So they were just following up on their threat. (That, and they didn't want another Karab on their hands) Remember, after eating the fruit, Luca became a deranged killer. (And with godlike powers, well, you can just imagine)

Actually, he becomes a baby. ^^"
It is all quite odd, I know...

"Was there a risk that something would have happened to the parts that would have them destroyed, and if that had happened, what would have become of it?" <---- I'm not sure I understand what you mean. :/

The plan was:
If Luca rebelled like Karab, he would be destroyed. That's why he was made the way he was.

Instead, Ixx had mercy, but Zango wanted some form of punishment. So they had a compromise.

They just watched. (I know, it sounds kind of cruel, but Luca did turn out alright in the end. In fact, when he returned, he was much better, both mentally, and skill/maturity wise then before) and if you could ask Luca, he would tell you that it was both the worse and best thing that happened to him. (To top it off, Luca is rather invincible...)

3. Yeah, they fight at random though. (It could be a few hundred years or a few weeks) Luckily, they made it without fighting for 38 years.

6. Lol!! Well put!! Yep, Luca learned A LOT that first night! XD

Steve-C2 In reply to Jestloo [2012-11-19 01:42:44 +0000 UTC]

I see now!

1. Any way you look at it, Luca was being a dummy. Question - was he growing Karab-like qualities before the fruit, or after?

Yeah, I kind of figured.

Okay, let me sort that out.

Since the original plan was to destroy Luca, but Ixx decided not to, but instead took his powers and put them into containers, the question regards those containers:
A. Was there a risk that they could have been destroyed?
B. What were the gods' plans in that case? Restore the powers and containers, or make another middle-man?

I also wonder how they came about the compromise? Did Luca have a say, or was it a private meeting between Zango and Ixx?

6. Now you've got me wondering about Kotian anatomy.

So, now that I've thoroughly peppered you with questions, I feel like I should roll out a welcome for you to ask some you may have of my story. Go ahead! You may hit on something that will help me write it out.

Jestloo In reply to Steve-C2 [2012-11-19 04:04:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it was. Umm... I'm not sure... I think it was for different reasons... (It's the last piece of the story that I need to figure out) After eating it, he just became pure evil. (So he wasn't himself anymore) Me and my brothers nicknamed this version of him as "Gold Eyes"

A. No. The containers were made of something that needed limitless, supernatural power in order to destroy them. So the orbs would stay safe for him to find. (His "parents" had the final one. When they died, Luca kept it as a memorial. It laid dormant until he found all the rest. It was the one that contained his memories)

B. If the containers broke? Nothing, they can't break. But, IF they did... I guess they would need to make a new middle-man...but that would never happen.

Luca was in the midst of being tortured, while they came to there decision. (Since he was originally going to be destroyed, it was part of the punishment)

6. uhh....
Heheheh... I know how they do IT, but it feels odd to say or type.

I guess I could try to make it as scientific as possible. You already know that it has to do with the feathers.

Oh! Haha! It's going to be hard to do such probing questions like you, but I'll try. ^^"

1. Where did Will learn how to sword fight?

2. I believe the girls aren't related, so, how did they get to be friends? Did they know each other as children, or did they meet a little more recently?

3. Was Rose always soft and gentle to Cedric, or did they start on much different terms?

I think that's all I can think of at the moment. I feel like your going to answer these in later writings though...

Steve-C2 In reply to Jestloo [2012-11-19 05:30:27 +0000 UTC]

Now for your answers.

1. It's hinted at during Will and Andrew's discussion as they're riding home. They were trained as knights, at a school in another leader's domain (I haven't quite figured out if there's one central King or several Princes; either way, someone is responsible for the duke). Their father is a minor baron and felt that they should obtain some sort of training. Their training did not stop at school; they frequently sparred at home, both with and without weapons. Sometimes the training was to stay in shape, and other times it was to blow off steam and frustration. So, in short, they were formally trained as knights, with other knights. In case you're wondering why, aside from "because he felt it right", a few other things came into play:
Duke Chatholm (and you'll see why later on in the story);
Even a minor baron has some political exposure, and politics at the time had a tendency to be messy (see above);
Without the above two reasons, everyone should have the capacity to defend at least their own person, and finally;
the poor man had 10 children running around his home and needed to direct their energy into SOMETHING. So, the girls were trained as well, but not at the school. Rather, they were trained at home by the boys as they returned.

2. Nope, they're not! They've known each other for a few years. Aurora took to the road as a very young girl, not quite in her teens. Her family had enough, but just barely, and more often than not she'd pass her food to one of her younger siblings so they didn't go hungry. So she took off, and found very quickly that she needed money to buy her own things, so she practiced fiddling, singing, and dancing, and found that people would pay to see it. Mel lived in one of the towns that Aurora went to as a young girl. Mel was incredibly shy, but also incredibly hungry, and Aurora, even as a young girl, was pretty observant. She had enough to share with Mel, so she did, and she also taught Mel to play a violin. Aurora didn't put any conditions on sharing with Mel; she saw that the girl was hungry, so she shared. By this time, both girls were in their teens, and seeing teens on their own to some degree wasn't entirely unusual. Thus, when Mel's parents saw Aurora, they weren't entirely surprised, and figured that she was taking care of Mel better than they were, and wished them both good luck. Mel has stopped to see her parents and give them some money from time to time as her travels permit; Aurora does the same.
Tash is the only one of the group that wasn't in want. She saw Aurora and Mel playing their violins for a crowd, and got so caught up in the music that she started dancing along. She asked if she could come again on the following day to dance with them again, and Aurora saw no reason not to. Now Tash's original intent was to have some innocent fun. But, there were now three beautiful girls performing before crowds, which of course contained some appreciative men; while nothing bad or wrong happened, when Tash was added to the mix, more money came in, and Aurora of course shared some of it with her. After a couple of days, Tash's parents came to find out what she was doing. The timing, location, and pretty much everything about it were horrible. As was (and is) her practice, Tash had taken a member of the audience with her to accompany her steps. This particular audience consisted entirely of men. The girls were either lucky, or Aurora had good intuition, because there were always some men in the audience that would be ready to cause problems for anyone who tried to touch the girls. I digress. In any event, Tash's parents saw her take the member of the audience, and her mother shrieked her disapproval. They were of the mind that the girls must have been doing more to entertain the men, than just singing and dancing (they were quite wrong). Her father didn't read the situation any better. After launching in a barrage of name calling, reading Tash the riot act, and launching into another barrage of name calling, which brought all the girls to tears (and poor Mel into hiding behind Aurora), Tash's parents publicly informed her they would have nothing more to do with her, and told her she could live on the streets. Tash attempted to reconcile with her parents after being away from them, but was told on no uncertain terms, by her own mother, that they did not have a daughter named Tasha, and her father told her quite plainly to get out of his sight, while adding a few choice invectives that left Tash bawling. Her parents were the cause of two times that Aurora and Mel had to literally pick Tash up from the ground and console her. Yes, there is at least a third. Yes, it will come up.

By the way, how's that for "made up on the spot canon background that might not ever see the story" from the author?

3. Funny you should ask! Remember I said I had a fantasy type work rattling around my head? Well, one type of dragon is a type for which I had Rose in mind (whether she stays in her own separate piece with Cedric, or gets planted there, or there is ultimately a merger, I have not yet decided). Essentially, she is of a type of dragon that is called the "Bright Royal" and also the most powerful (in terms of magical ability and strength) and intelligent. They can read an individual's intent and mood very well because of that. Cedric stumbling across her was, in fact, an accident; he was out exploring and quite surprised to see her. So surprised, in fact, he turned and ran away. He came back the next day, and saw her again, this time, deliberately. For her part, Rose had figured from the first time he wasn't out to hurt her. After a few times of going, seeing, and doing nothing, Cedric finally limped over one day (abuse at home). Rose, sensing something wasn't quite right, moved slowly and carefully to make herself more inviting. Cedric approached her and she healed him. Most of Cedric's training involved learning how to communicate with her. Additionally, for Bright Royal, that is a dragon that tends to choose its master, not the other way around. So, really, who trained who? But for Cedric it started off with fear, then curiosity, and moved to affection. For Rose, it was curiosity from the get-go, then pity, then affection.

I truly enjoyed answering all that! Let me know if you have more!

3. Oh! I truly love the set up! It makes perfect sense, and adds to the, already, magical atmosphere. "Bright Royal", never heard the term, but I have seen examples. (I'm loving Rose more and more)

About how old is Cedric? I don't remember if you said it, or not... ^^"
(I imagine in his early teens, like 13-15, but tall and skinny for his age)

Did you? I know! Now you know why I enjoyed it so much.

I'll have to keep my eyes pealed for anymore.

Steve-C2 In reply to Jestloo [2012-11-21 02:35:27 +0000 UTC]

Wow, you love it, and here I was thinking it wasn't anything that special. I made up the term "Bright Royal" on the fly.

Cedric ran away at 14, so between 14 and 16. And yeah, your mental image is spot on. As usual.

So here's a sneak peek at my notes for the background of what might turn into a story. It would be a shame if it just rested as notes.

The rarest is actually one of these breeds. Called "Bright Royals", they are large, but trim beasts, usually having multiple hues of the same color, most commonly red to violet or blue to navy or violet. These are usually very powerful, possessing the highest level of magical abilities and strength. They tend to shy away from humans, but are not actual recluses, and can be sociable once familiar. Given their intelligence, they are extremely easy to tame; but very hard to keep, since they tend to choose their masters. Not one has ever willingly served an evil person. These dragons tend to possess the most human-like qualities such as emotions, and emotional sensitivity.

Dragons possess vast amounts of magic. The weakest dragon type, having the least magical capabilities, is 100 times more powerful than a normal master mage. The most powerful before the Bright Royal is 10 times more powerful than the least powerful dragon. The least powerful Bright Royal is 1000 times more powerful than the most powerful of its immediate predecessor in terms of power.

For the sake of readability:
Weakling Dragon = 100x more than most powerful human
2nd Strongest dragon = 10x more powerful than weakling
Bright Royal = The weakest BR is 1000x more powerful than the strongest of the 2nd strongest.

So - that's Rose for you. And she's not a weak one.

Yep, I did! I don't know about you, but for me, it means, "Yay, someone's interested in this!!"

2. Oh my goodness!! Poor Tash!!
(Her parents are some what reminiscent of Luca's "father") The poor dear... Tom better love her good! She needs it. (Course, it would be awesome if they end up marrying! )

Made up on the spot, aye? You may want to copy and save all of this. It's really good.

So when she had someone "accompany her steps," did that mean she danced with them?

Steve-C2 In reply to Jestloo [2012-11-21 02:20:04 +0000 UTC]

I might write up that scene as a separate exercise. Tash's parents fed and clothed her, and as you can tell she loves them dearly. I imagine she's the type that, as fun-loving and outgoing as she is, would move everything in her own little world to please her parents. For their part, they love her, but have a "spare the rod and spoil the child" type of outlook, coupled with almost impossibly high expectations of their children. That's not to say that she was beaten, but they would take "tough love" to extremes, such as throwing their daughter out and preventing later reconciliation. Would Tash have left the group if her parents had made it a condition of her being welcomed? At the time, most absolutely. Now, though, she's grown into a woman with a good sense of self.

And, um, you really need to catch up on some reading. Remember I said that you'd like the scenes following Will and Andrew's conversation?

Ha! Funny you mention. I draft my responses in a text file, then copy and paste. After I did that and clicked reply, I read the storyline again, and thought, "gee, this would be good background in case it does work itself in." So I wound up copying it back from here, then pasting it onto a text file, and saving it.

Yep! She likes to pick audience members and have them dance with her. It's not ballroom dancing, more of a jig (and I'm not sure that's even a way to describe it), nothing too fancy, but something fun, easy, with a little bit of grace.

Will and Andrew have fond memories of growing up in that place, and have a good laugh over their parents trying to achieve some sort of order and occasional quiet. It's more fun because, as you're introduced to the family later, you'll get a sense that even the parents probably had a good laugh about their "not always 100% effective" efforts.

Well, in any event, he was eating something he knew he shouldn't have. It seems to me he might have been resentful of something (why aren't I on the same level as Zango and Ixx, or why do I have to settle their disagreements like children all the time?); since how you've portrayed him indicates he wouldn't do something so foolish without a supposed cause, especially with the consequences as they were.

But then again, we humans do the same thing, do we not?

Your answer to A answers B. I hadn't thought that they would be made indestructible. And you hinted that they needed to be found in a certain order; at least the memories needed to be found last. I like that setup.

It sounds like Zango and Ixx came to the decision in front of Luca, then; but Luca might have been a bit preoccupied to notice. If they told him what they were going to do, that would have been locked into the memories that he couldn't retrieve until later. Clever!

I wasn't really asking about how they do IT, although there's a technical curiosity there. Don't worry about answering though. I was just wondering about general anatomy.

It wouldn't be the "same level" thing. Unlike Karab, Luca is well aware of his limitations. (Again, I really need to come up with the situations that would lead him to do this. I really have no idea how though. It's the last loose end in my Luca Stories) I can't even get an idea as to how he feels while doing it... It's a complete mystery to me, and the scenario seems so out of character for Luca normally. I need to make a series of events maybe... I don't know...

Yes, but unlike us or Karab, Luca really does LOVE his purpose. Sure, he can get annoyed at times, but he is happy. You know how people wish they could find out their purpose in life? Well, Luca knows his. So, it's very fulfilling to him.

And he only starts really finding them during the Space Ranger stories.

You're right about being preoccupied. Doubt he could even be aware of his own thoughts in that moment.
Yep.

Well, the simplest explanation is that they work much like a flower. It's not so bad as it is awkward. I'm going to try it.

The female produces a special hormone, when "in the mood" that excites the male. His feathers start giving off a fine, sweet smelling, dust/pollen that, when coming in contact with the female's feathers, will result in getting her pregnant.

A little added note: Kotians practically "sync" with each other. In other words; once a couple have love, they can not get AS excited from any another. Each Katian's hormone is like a finger print, and it is permanent. (So you can imagine that abstinence is a bigger thing to them)

...I think that turned out ok...

It's all making sense now, except for where you acknowledge there's a loose end, which is "Why did Luca act like a doofus and eat the fruit?"

I like the parts of the story that I see.

Oh my, I can just imagine Luca: "What in the world is going on?!?!"

Another interesting bio/anatomical note! I like the science behind it.

Yep, it did.

Well put. That's exactly it.

Yay!!

More like, intense pain, followed by, relief and unconsciousness, and finally waking up as a babe. Completely blank and already missing his creator's (or unknown warm) presence.

Thanks, I'm glad I could make it so. (I like my fantasy to be real)

Good. Ah, jeez!! I need to be in bed! Goodnight!

(I see those long answers... Should have told you to split them...) it's fine, I'll send a separate comment for each.

^---- Maybe something like that.

Actually, I imagine that she decides not to. Then a few months later, he gets the huge, "OMG!! What's wrong with your belly!?"
