Description "Where are you going?"

Caafire paused in the doorway, arching an eyebrow as she looked over her shoulder. One braid of her dark satin brown hair bounced down onto her shoulder, threatening to burst apart, like her other braids which were now breaking their elegance of design. "I'm putting Trechire to bed," the altmer mage replied, shifting the small babe in her arms around a bit so her daughter would be more comfortable. "Then I'll be back to finish the final conclusions on those soul gems-"

"I can put her to bed," Vanus interrupted her, leaving his place at the long wooden table which was over encumbered with numerous tomes, trinkets, soul gems, and various herbal ingredients. He came to Caafire's side, offering his arms.

"I understand you have work to do, my love," Caafire posed, a little offset by her husband's request. It was quite the rarity for him to just dismiss such research. "You certainly have dived in deeper into the subject than I have- I fear I'll have made not quite as much progress as you'd have liked if you leave me to the task while you put Trechire to bed."

"That's fine," Vanus insisted, now frowning a bit as he kept his arms extended. "Any progress you make is progress forward."

She couldn't suppress the defeated smile that slipped onto her lips. Caafire handed over their daughter, who squirmed slightly as Vanus took her into his arms. Trechire blue eyes blinked opened, staring endlessly up at her father, silent. Giving them a brief nod, Caafire went to the table, eyes sharply tracing over the work about her.

Vanus made his way upstairs to the dimly lit bedroom, where his and Caafire's bed loomed in the candlelight- to its right, the crib was positioned against the wall. Trechire seemed quite happy to be nestled down into the warm blankets of her crib, nuzzling into her pillow, eyes sleepishly looking back up to her father.

"I know I'm need downstairs," Vanus smiled, and slipped a book out from under the crib. "But one page or two wouldn't hurt anything, would it?"

Trechire smiled, making a humming sound that ended in a small yawn.

"I know, you really like this book," Vanus chuckled, and let his hand glide down into the crib as Trechire could take hold of one finger. "Soon you'll be reading it right along with me. I'll teach you as soon as you're up for it, Trechire." His eyes dulled for a moment, his smile falling, but only by a fragment. "You've got a broad future ahead of you, little one. There's no end to what you can seek once you're older." His hand reached further, ruffling the short, yet already thick honey brown hair of his daughter, and his quiet laughter rumbled in the back of his throat. "If I can be a decent father, that is. I'm warning you ahead of time- I'm a wild card."

His daughter didn't seem to mind, grabbing onto one of his fingers again.

"Alright, Father's babbled on enough," Vanus smirked, and opened the book with his free hand, creatively flipping through the pages to where he had book marked from a few evening ago. "Here we are, right when the dragons passed through time."

A very short piece of fanfiction featuring Vanus Galerion.

First, yes, a fan child. There are numerous online, so those that get cranky over "broken lore" get over it. Goodness, if a natural glitch can spawn a guard 50 feet in the air above me every time I walk out of Understone Keep, only for the guard to fall to his death each and every time, I think it's okay to have some fun with the games in general.

Trechire is a random OC I have in "legend" in one of my canon Elder Scroll timelines. I have two timelines for two characters, because connecting the Elder Scrolls games together through character's lineages is so much fun. Trechire is from my Altmer Battle in Skyrim's timeline, although they are not related, Trechire was a subject of a tale told to my character and her cousins as children. Trechire, Caafire, and Vanus together, of course.

Just wrote this briefly for fun, to match the Vanus chibi sketch.
