Ace is an expert marksman and his cutie mark is four bullet holes. He's a lone Earth stallion, preferring his own company to that of other ponies. He can easily take care of himself, and that scar on his face is the only injury he's ever received in his long life of altercations. He's ex-Royal Guard but was kicked out - nopony knows why - and briefly worked as the Sheriff of Appleloosa before voluntarily stepping down. Ace lives in a run down cottage just far enough away from Appleloosa's main street to deter visitors. But while the exterior of his house is imposing and dilapidated, the interior is warm, comfortable and inviting.

Ace is quintessential old West. He believes in opening doors for ladies, never shooting at the back, justice and honour. He's intimidating and hard to approach, but he is loyal to a fault and can be surprisingly smooth with the ladies. Ace never speaks of his last marefriend and all anypony knows is that it has been years since Ace cleaned up for any fine filly. However it's getting harder and harder for Ace to ignore the allure of a certain Cirque's Ringleader...
