Following the failure of the Transwarp experiment, the USS Excelsior (NX-2000) effectively spent the next two years in Spacedock. With teams from the SCE and ASDB working round the clock to salvage the maligned starship. Starfleet had invested significant resources in its development and parts of the spaceframe were over-designed even. This was expected of any new flagship and indeed, the Excelsior was still tremendous quantum leap over previous designs. This garage queen may have been one-upped by the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) herself, but the Constitution's days were clearly numbered.
