Description So, I decided to do some metering practise this morning at sunrise. The photo is pretty boring (just the view from my front door), but does display a decent job of metering. I figured I'd stick it up here, so I can show people What a properly metered sunrise/sunset should look like.

Note that the sun/sunrise is not blown out, and there is detail in the shadows. I generally hate pure black silhouettes of the ground in these sorts of shots. The advantage of metering such that the foreground has detail is that [a] it's not a boring black blotch on the print, and [b] if you really insist on having the big black blotch, you can create it by just twiddling the blackpoint in PS, i.e. you have more options in post production.
