Description Contest Submission for Diablo 3. First thing I noticed is that almost EVERYONE is going digital.... nothing against it, I've seen some amazing stuff done, but I do feel like it should be a separate category for a number of reasons (ability to fix mistakes/forgiveness, copying and pasting images etc). Still people have done some amazing stuff. That being said I went traditional with both of my entries. I tried to stay away from a cartoon style/ graphic novel. I wanted to see these characters a real as I could make them. I loved the scene in the trailer where Malthael starts to take the guy's soul, so I wanted to incorporate it.  I also thought the relationship between hate/rage and fear in regards to the Demon Hunter's power was cool, so I wanted to have the eyes glow with hell fire while having the look of fear on her face.

Please go to my page and like it...I put most of my updates and WIP stuff on there (prints for sale 1 for $15,2 for $20 and 3 for $25)... www.facebook.com/pages/Jeuro-A…

Hi, I saw this in the critique journal for TraditionalUnleashed. I haven't ever played Diablo so I can't comment on how faithfully you've rendered the characters in terms of their likeness. However, I still think I can give you a little crit...

1) I think that there should perhaps be a bit of reflected light along the left edge of her neck. It doesn't need to extend the whole way up, but just enough to not make it look like her head is sitting on her neck in an unnatural manner. On the right side this isn't really a problem because you can see where the shape of the neck is turning into darkness, as opposed to the left where it looks like shadow just kinda swamped the area.

2) Is her armor made of metal or leather? It seems like it would be made of metal, but because there isn't really good contrast on the plates it reads more like leather than something shiny like metal plates. There is all sorts of reference to be found that you could extrapolate from I dig the dents and cuts left in it though, you're making the surface more interesting that way.

3) It looks as though her lips are outlined all the way around, even though given the way the light falls on her face this wouldn't be the case. Build the lips up with shading rather than filling in lines, it will help them look less flat, which is even more noticeable when the rest of her face is rendered more successfully.

Other than that, I think that the idea you have is really interesting, and I enjoy the brightness of her eyes. It's not overdone so that it's the only thing a person sees, which is great!! This is sometimes a hard effect to pull off right imo. A few tweaks and better shading and I think you could put this through the roof I hope this has been helpful to you.

Beautiful. I do agree that Digital art and traditional art should be in different categories .Digital art is beautiful I really dont know if the two can be classified as Traditional Art

Thank you. I understand where the skill comes in but just the fact that any mistake can be undone at pretty much anytime makes it less...um risky and doesnt require the same level of planning or application. IMO its more proficiency with a program, but they do have great ideas and layouts.
