Description
These hardy little dragons are among the smallest of the known fruit dragon species, measuring only about five to eight inches from nose to tail. The red-winged American fruit dragon dwells in the mid-western states and is occasionally spotted in Alaska during the summer breeding season. The red-wings travel to Mexico and South America during the winter to escape the colder temperatures up north. They can have up to four eggs in one clutch, but only two usually survive. Red-wing nests are found in the highest most branches of soft-wooded trees, or, sometimes, in cracks in roofing in people's homes. The best time of day to spot these tiny dragons is at dawn, when they climb to high branches or platforms to sunbathe. Red-wings make excellent beginner pets for any youngster, as they feed only on fruit and nectar. These tiny dragons have a lengthy tongue, which makes it easier to reach nectar in bottle-necked flowers.

This little guy was a joy to color! The background is an orchard picture I had taken some years ago and decided to use it for this because it fit so perfectly! I would have done my own background by hand, but I'm too lazy tonight! XD Enjoy! Oh, side note! The colors are really strange on this guy when he's small...not sure why, but they're really saturated.
