It's never stated that Zelda isn't gay. The only time Link scores with her is at the end of Zelda 2, and that was more likely a courtesy to placate the poor hero.
I support Zelda x Samus because it's super freakin' romantic.

It's also never stated that she isn't straight either. At the end of the day it doesn't matter because it has no relevance to the plot, fans can do whatever the hell they like lol.
(It should be clarified that this was drawn at a time when I was less accepting of the internet's imagination).

I don't know, Link saves Zelda time and time again and NEVER ends up with her, the only possible exception being toon link, but the most sensual thing he does with Zelda A.K.A tetra is gaze at her while holding hands. I mean, I'm gay, and I did that kind of stuff with people of the opposite gender back when I thought I was straight, so that means nothing. So excluding toon link cause he's too young to be sure of that sort of thing (it took me till I was 16, and toon link is, like, what? 12? 13?) the only person that link is hinted to having romantic feelings for is Zelda, but only hinted at, and his relationship is light enough that it can easily be interpreted as very strong friendship. Yes, this is evidence for link's straightness, but it is nothing definitive. The idea oh having a friend so close that you would go to any length to save them without being sexually attracted to them is easy to entertain. Netendo is, however, notorious for staying away from themes of romance in their games making it very easy to precieve different sexual orientations for their characters. I would like to point out that far more people question link's sexuality than mario's. There is a significant portion of people who question link's orientation and think he might be gay without the motivation of yaoi. I mean, I have yet to hear someone question Mario's orientation, he just doesn't set off anybody's gayadar, but Link does. As to why, I'm not entirely sure, perhaps the lack of any show of physical attraction whatsoever (peach has kissed Mario, but I don't think any sort of official demonstration of attraction between link and Zelda has ever been shown). Also the fact that Netendo has no mainstream gay characters (except perhaps gihrahim, but it's not established and i think I spelled that wrong) leaves players to wonder which ones would be in a kind of witch-hunt sort of fashion. Anyway, so link's only hinted-at romance is with Zelda, he utterly ignores all other females presumably for her, but never ends up with Zelda for sure. At best, the fact that link ends up with Zelda is implied, in many games romance isn't even mentioned, and at worst it's nearly impossible (for example due to time travel complications, and don't tell me that link could have ended up with Zelda at the end of OoT, because the same link gets lost in another dimension in Mangora's Mask) . That is enough for me to question Link's orientation.

Uhh... considering Link is just a totally blank slate for people to apply themselves to as a player character I think you're looking into it far more than is necessary. And besides, at the end of the day with sexuality you just don't know. No-one even tends to mention bisexuality as an idea for example. It's always straight vs gay.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter. Sexuality just isn't something that's touched upon in the games. Straight, gay, or anything else.
Then there's the fact that this picture was drawn when I was like, 16 and just didn't "get" shipping that twisted characters or added random facts/assumptions about the characters at all. I mean I still don't, but nowadays I just don't care what people do with characters if it's what makes them happy, as long as they aren't trying to force their headcanons on other people as if it's canon.

Well it interesting that you mention bisexuality, cause there may be a reason to why nobody mentions bisexuality. Bisexuality in males is extremely rare, studies have shown, which is perhaps why so many people overlook the possibility of bisexuality for male characters. On the other hand, (this is unrelated but interesting) studies have shown that almost all, if not all, females are somewhat bisexual, the exception being lesbians, who are only attracted to other females. In other words, studies show that most females are at least maybe (I could be wrong on the actual number) a 1.5ish on the Kinsey scale, 0 being straight and 6 being homosexual, and 3 being bi, where as males tend to stay on one end of the scale or the other .but I'm sure there are exceptions, this is just a trend and as anyone who follows studies could tell you it is wrong to make assumptions on an individual based on the observed trends of the population, because there are always exceptions, it's part of a code of integrity and ethics (I'm actually not a scientist, I just follow the studies, and I'm up on my LGBT info) So by not considering bisexuality as an option, and if a person didn’t consider bisexuality because on the studies, it could be argued that they are in the wrong, but since he is a fictitious character, that raises questions of whether or not it is O.K. to use odds and statistics to come to a conclusion about fictitious characters who can't have their feelings hurt. And because any conclusion you come to, you make it correct in your mind simply by coming to that conclusion, since Link's sexuality is open for interpretation. Of course, a 1.5 still might not be bi enough to identify as bi, per say. Anyway, I know this is a sensitive topic, I'm just saying that's what the data seems to say right now, I don't mean to offend any male bisexuals, I'm just saying that men TEND to be either gay or straight. If you want me to go into the details of the studies I could, but I don't feel like it right now, but don't worry, they don't rely on people self-proclaiming their sexual orientation, cause that just wouldn't be accurate. And you're right, not enough people consider bisexuality, it is so underrepresented in our society. On top of bisexuality, why does nobody consider Pansexuality, or Polysexuality? Fun fact, I think I know more pan people than bi people lol. Anyway, what you just said is really my point. At the end of the day, you just don't know, so the option of link being gay is still quite open. Perhaps Nintendo purposefully leaves it open for the blank slate purpose, so that people attracted to guys and not girls don't have to apply themselves to link only to have link fall for Zelda. So for people to say "link is straight" makes as much sense for people to say "link is gay" or "link is bi", thus rendering fan fiction which pairs link with a male just as valid as fan fiction that pairs link with a female. If that's the case than the most likely orientation for link would be Asexual, since he is just a blank slate, and can have no orientation without someone applying their own onto him. Hmm... interesting. Another point as to WHY so many people question links straightness is that I know homosexuals tend to be left handed more often that heterosexuals, I'm not saying at all that being left handed is a good indicator that you're gay, I'm saying a lot of people might view this statistic as another reason to think that link might be gay (link was originally left handed, but they had to switch it for the wii), regardless of whether that assumption is a good assumption to make or not.
This is a really interesting conversation Sorry if I'm geeking out on you.

i personally have no care, i don't mind gay/lesbians and i don't understand how everyone turns and looks at you when say GAY OR LESBIAN! It is just wrong. I am both a yaoi/yuri fan and also a nintendo and sega fan, i will play or watch anything if it entertains me. So the dead line is we should just accept stuff for what it is, and accept people for who they are. It is not hard, and your a coward for not doing this. BTW ow is someone's drawings and fun teach 5 year olds about sex? You learn this by wathing soap operas! I'm not being serious or hard on the artist, I'm just trying to get through to people. #Zeykabo

I can't say anything about why we like yaoi/yuri, lulz. Well one reason is that when you're watching a movie/some tv series or playin games , i bet you find one special character you like. You drool over him and then suddenly his Wife/girlfriend appears and you get damn jealous! (At least i do) That's why we pair two men together 'cause women don't get so easily jealous and it seems cute and lovely (and hot, hehe) ... this is my opinion
I'm not good with explaining, i hope u got it.

the most annoying yaoi is sonicXshadow...i mean WHAT THE FUCK?
sonic and shadow doesn't love each other.
only because anyone thinked sonic and shadow were sexy boys doesn't mean that you say"oh sonic is hot and shadow too.let's make a yuri of them.it'll be 100% sexy"yaoi is weird
people making yaoi and yuri makes them weirdos

I am somewhat of a Yuri fan, but I only like the proper novel-style ones. Where the writer has actually made some kind of plot and created a reasonable romance. Not "Woh, this chick's hot, woh this chick's hot too! Lets make a yuri of them, it'll be totally sexy!" Also, changing the sexual preference of a character completely (Some character who is OBVIOUSLY straight (has had a strong straight relationship or other sexual conduct) becomes gay/lesbian)
Im all for characters discovering that they're bisexual. That's cool.👍: 0 ⏩: 0

The picture sums up everything. Unless there is hardly any romance in a game or if things are left vague in a game (eg. Rudra no Hihou), I would understand. But making straight characters gay and vice versa? No, just no.
I can't stand character rape in serious so called "canon" fan fiction. It only works as parodies and spoofs, NOT cannon work.
