Nancy Spencer is believed to lived in or around what is now known as Bates-Allen Park in Kendleton. The town of Kendleton was created around 1860 when James Kendleton sold off small parcels of his ranch to freed slaves as farms. I don't know much about Nancy, just what the stone says she died in 1924 and was about 85 years old.
