Isn't the Medusa supposed to be so horrifically ugly that the very sight of it turns a man to stone?

Doesn't anyone know the true basis of Medusa? She was the most beautiful woman in the entire world, so much so that she even enchanted Poseidon who followed her to Athena's temple where he raped her. So enraged was Athena that she lashed out... she could not attack another god she knew, so she cursed Medusa with a look that would turn men to stone. With Poseidon's child, she hid and later gave birth to Pegasus.
Of course, you probably already knew all that!

Yep, Watched Clash of the Titans. With the exception of the Pegasus birth it actually covered that story. I missed that the first few times But caught it while watching it with Erin. Also, in the original story wasn't there 2 sisters that were also Gorgons? I seem to remember that.
