This makes me think about Intel processors...

Haha gee I wonder why
When Coffee Lake came out I really wanted one but last year I heard about Intel bribing the University of Amsterdam to falsify study results regarding a security flaw which made me switch from an Intel kinda guy to an AMD kinda guy. Unfortunately I can't afford the amazing threadrippers

From the way it looks the gaps in performance between Intel and AMD Ryzen over the last few years disappearance once the Spectre and Meltdown (and other) patches are applied. Of course Zen 2 is just plain a better architecture and the chiplet concept scales better - both technically and financially - compared to Intel's monolithic designs. It helps AMD that Intel is still obscenely overpriced and has barely budged in cost. Now if only AMD (and apparently Intel with Xe) could light a fire under nVidia's feet when it comes to performance.
From the early looks of it Intel Xe could really shakes things up. Intel's graphics architecture is already pretty impressive given the limitations it works under (limited and shared TDP, slow bus speeds, wrong kind of RAM, etc) so freeing it up to run like a conventional graphics card could be interesting.
