The Type 2010 catamaran landing craft is a series of rapid amphibious ships created by Yongsheng Heavy Machinery Industries. These roll-on/roll-off landing craft were designed to transport and deliver troops and equipment onshore during amphibious assault operations and can unload troops, equipment and vehicles in shallow water.
Featuring two parallel hulls, its central platform resembles an elevator and can be raised or lowered, thus transforming the vessel from a catamaran to a flat-bottomed landing craft, and back again. In its raised position, the Type 2010 is a catamaran that is transformed into a flat bottom ship by deploying its platform in the lowered position, for the purposes of unloading on any beach in the absence of port facilities or in shallow water environment. The vessel has a maximum payload of up to 82,500 kg, has exceptional speed and maneuverability, is designed with a wheelhouse that is of a retractable type for docking purposes, and can carry either one main battle tank, up to six armored/non-armored vehicles, or up to 30 soldiers. Lightly-armed, the vessel is only equipped with four machine gun mounts.
The first Type 2010 was launched on December 9, 2010 and commissioned on August 17, 2011.
