I was fine with the fairy type until I found out it is super effective against dragon type. I mean, come on, fairies > dragons?? REALLY???

The fariy type was a reference to middle age fables, where Fairy'sΒ would help the knight kill the dragon. That is why Fairy is supereffective against dragon. c:

I think it was because they weren't able to name them "celestial type" or "angel type" or something like that..

There is Dark Pokemon... they meant to be evil, but they didn't called them Demon type or Diabolic...
Reason is, THEY COULD NAME IT LIGHT TYPE!

pardon for replyin on such an old comment, but i just realised somethin'.
if they called it light type, then espeon being the rival to umbreon (at least it seems that way) would make no sense...
they just had mad respect for old relationships, thats all. V:

noo, i mean because light is the opposite of dark, so sylveon would have to take espeon's place in the rivalry. V: because itd make more sense, type-wise.
but knowing fandoms, im pretty sure no one would actually accept that for at least two months...

You know, Pokemon has taken a shit on us adult fans by just targeting the kids. It doesn't even feel like a "family" show anymore, it's just too kid-centric from the games to the anime.
Remember when Mewtwo killed the scientists and Ash? I'm asking those born in 2000 and beyond.

Remember when Ash came back to life through tears? Β And then Mewtwo wiped everyone's memory so they learned NOTHING??
Yeah, the Pokemon anime is pretty shit dude. Β Don't give the new kids the "YOU WEREN'T ALIVE WHEN IT WAS GOOD" speech, because it's really annoying.

BlondBeastBoy In reply to Typl0g0 [2013-08-20 03:45:19 +0000 UTC]
Actually Ash never died in the movie according to Takeshi Shudo. He was just petrified. The only people that died in the movie were the scientists. So I'll retract the Ash part. Mewtwo still killed several people out of anger. That's pretty dark compared to the sprightly new episodes and movies. It's a visible decay of quality.

Typl0g0 In reply to BlondBeastBoy [2013-08-20 05:22:04 +0000 UTC]
I'm confused at how the fact that he was "petrified" and not "killed" changes the fact that it's completely ridiculous that all of the pokemon crying would have bettered his condition. Β And how do you go from the first movie being pretty dark because Mewtwo killed some scientists to the current seasons and recent movies being more lively and thus not as good? Β Just because something is "dark," it doesn't mean that it's good, and vice versa.
I'm curious as to what you think of the whole memory wipe? Β Because there was obviously a lesson that they tried to grind into us children and the characters in the movie that fighting was wrong, and that Pokemon weren't meant to fight like this, and Mewtwo made it so none of it ever happened, and thus no one remembered it.

"Just because something is dark doesn't mean that it's good, and vice versa"
Maybe, but the first movie was well-written sans the Deus Ex Maquina if you watched it in Japanese with subtitles. It had a more realistic theme and some sort of moral behind it, possibly on how scientists have gone too far on playing God. I still think Mewtwo should've been the one who revived Ash from his petrified state and not from Pokemon tears.
Don't know the reasons behind the memory loss, but at least Mewtwo changed his mind on humans after Satoshi sacrificed himself. The real lesson is found on the Japanese version, though, not the horrible dub that contradicted itself with the "fighting is wrong" bullshit. In the Japanese version the theme wasn't about "fighting is wrong", but more about how humans should stop playing God, otherwise their own creations will kill them and kill the rest of humanity. Kind of prophetic now.

There is no strategy needed for pokemon. Make sure your starter is 2nd form by the first gym and only use your starter from there on and you can win easy.

hey now, fairies appear in adult novels and such. They aren't an indication of something being for children. Heck, they aren't even an indication something is feminine :U though there are legit things that kinda prove Pokemon isn't exactly the most mature game series like... the actual designs of said fairy Pokemon.Β
As much as I love Pokemon when it comes to actual designs even the scarier Pokemon are rather kid friendly, what tends to make them creepier is their pokedex entries.

And fairies...there's LOTS of lore about plain-nasty fairies. I mean, hell - Sam and Dean have to fight fairies just as much as they do with demons.

Eh, I think stuff like that is what keeps it unique, given how many video games these days are trying to sell by being SO TOUGH AND GRITTY RRRRR. Besides, we're in the middle of year three of grown men going crazy over My Little Pony, but a fairy-type Pokemon is suddenly too girly? Puh-leeze.
