Description Finished my very gentlemanly octopus! Very proud of him.

Ha ha. I LOVE the idea of a gentleman cephalopod. The eye glass and top hat especially work really work in my eyes.

I also really like the detail on the skin, most notably see the darker lines (alas I don't know the technical term) and the suckers on the underside of the testicles. The background itself is also brilliantly done, my eye being drawn to the bubble and the treasure chest.

All in all, nice work on this piece

I wasn't aware my gentleman octopus has visible balls. ;3 (Tentacles, not testicles!! XD) either way, thank you very much for the complement on my octopus! He is my favorite piece in my gallery!

Haha I really love this deviation! The idea is so unique and you drew it nicely to meet up the expectations the viewer got from the title! Your color choices are great! Your line are very straightforward and obvious but I think that is what creates the impact for the viewers. I think the hat, monocle, and cane are all wonderful!! The background was also nicely drawn! Very nicely done!! <333

Thank you very much! I love drawing octopi, and it was a great sketch to turn into a digital painting. I need to work on my depth some though, in backgrounds (my weak spot!)

I love doing bold lines- I do them traditionally and they are just so fun! My favorite part of the art process. Perhaps I can try some line-less works.

Heh, this is a super cute concept. I'd recommend upping the contrast of your shadows versus light spots, just to get a bit more depth. But very cute.

Thank you very much for both the compliment and the advice. I will definetly work on my shadows in the future. I wasn't sure whether water reflected light differently than on land- I thought I remembered that there are more highlights or something- but now that I think about it, it does get pretty dark under there!

You're very welcome. And remember that a higher contrast keeps the image from blending into itself. If you didn't want to make the lighting more dramatic you could try getting contrast through saturated/desaturated colours, or really strong warm/cool tones, or some other little colour trick.
