When you go to Greece, you will eventually hear tales of the origin of the olive trees. Lovely stories of everylasting love. Well, this olive tree is so old, the locals assured us, that it had been there since the ancient Gods of Greece. Or at least since before the Christ. Olive trees can indeed be very, very old, so it might be 2000 years old or more. It is the oldest tree on Kefalonia and amazingly unharmed in a world tormented by violent earthquakes.Related content

Yeah, I was kind of surprised myself when I was told of it - but the plaque is supposed to tell something about the age of the tree.
