The title speaks for itself I think.

How I wanted to be able to send a reply to Kaidan's mail after Horizon. It was one of the annoyances I felt after my first playthrough. I remember seeing a lot of people writing their own replies on the forum back then but since I'm not that good with words, I wanted a more visual reply.

Despite having the idea, it never became clear in my head. I made other pictures to deal with the response after Horizon, Kaidan waiting for Shepard's reply...but it was never what was in my head.

I wanted Kaidan in his appartment on the citadel and I wanted to actually literally show the reply itself, which meant a vid mail to me ...or whatever it's called.
So I started by piecing together Kaidan's appartment, even fished for what people in the KAST thought on the subject without actually telling them what I was up to

I wanted a simple appartment, more of an office with a kitchen and bed, where he would catch up on paperwork, sleep and eat whenever he was on the Citadel. So it had to have Citadel influences without using anything from the Presidium.
The kitchen in the background was a couch at first, but that made the appartment appear to big imo, which wasn't what I was aiming for.

Anyway, I knew it had to be somewhat dark, no flashy lights because of the headaches....no plants or paintings or true personal touches because to me it was a workspace and Kaidan would hardly be there...but I did want to see some paperwork etc.

And then there was Shepard's hologram thingie and Kaidan's response to both seeing her and hearing what she has to say. THAT was THE most important part for me, I really tried adding a lot of emotion to Kaidan's face and I hope the message is coming across.
I saved that part for last since I spend a lot of time working on the background and its lighting and all sorts of stuff...pffttt.

It was a lot of work but I'm happy to have gotten it out of my system before DA2. I really felt the urge to complete it so I can look forward to a new game without being distracted.

Finally....a reply.
