A lot of people have been leaving or getting laid off at work - it's rather disheartening at times, especially since I had to go through it last year.

A lady who I've had the pleasure to know had decided to move up her retirement date and today was her last day. She's a very sweet lady and when I was here before, we worked minimally with each other but often helped each other and got along really well. She would often see me stitching and love to see what I was making. We talked about other things and a small friendship grew. I, obviously, could not let her leave without giving SOME sort of token of friendship and appreciation, so I broke my "doing only what was on my craft table" rule and made her this.

I loved the flower pattern and it was made to be a heart shaped like this. The right side had a sort of funky checkerboard design to it, but I found an "M" that was a good size and that actually curved to the left instead of to the right, making it fit into the curve of the flowers. I had only 3 days to work on this and stayed up until 1a last night to finish it. There were a few mishaps but I'm very pleased with the outcome. I believe this design my get used quite a few times in the future.
