I've been on DA for years and only rarely comment. Β I just came across this piece and had to say how much I love it. Β It may be the best depiction of gnomes I've ever seen. Β I played WoW for about 5 years and I played gnomes throughout. Β I identified initially with them because I'm short and have often been praised as intelligent, so they fit perfectly.Β
This picture conveys something most others don't. Β Gnomes are usually portrayed as quirky or silly or goofy or in other similarly "silly" ways, and this gives them what they rarely seem to have: emotion. Β Because something is typically viewed a certain way doesn't mean it doesn't possess any other facet. Β Seeing love here, arguably the most powerful of emotions, is absolutely endearing and completely wonderful. Β Thank you for this.

Yeah. If the official rules are to be read in a strict manner, any art that isn't directly created for this contest is an invalid entry.
Unfortunately, that gets rid of quite a few good entries, but I understand why they are enforcing it. It would essentially give a head-up to those artists already working in the field and make the contest an unequal ground.Β

It's a wonderful artwork and very unique , concept-wise , but i dont see how this is a valid entry for the GvG contest. The rules say it must be created for the contest and feature a single gnome/goblin and her invention. What the hell DeviantArt...?

Don't worry, it didn't make the semi-finals so I"m pretty sure it got disqualified for not following the rules, which makes me happy that lazy people don't prosper lol...

Yeah you are right , it would actually be pretty outrageous if it did. But its still annoying because this artwork used the publicity of the entrants' section to attract views etc. And its really a shame because this artwork is amazing and doesnt really need such tricks to attract. But anyway , maybe the artist cant speak english so well and didnt understand the rules , who knows
