Description

The Lady of the Plains, Lyndis, better known as Lyn!

Lyn is the lord of the Lorca tribe of Sacae, the sole survivor of a massacre of the tribe by the bandits of Taliver. She is the daughter of Hassar, the Lorca chieftain, and Madelyn, the daughter of Lord Hausen of Caelin, who have both perished during the massacre. Some months after the demise of her tribe, she was embroiled in an inheritance dispute spearheaded by her granduncle Lundgren after learning of her Caelin heritage, and a year afterward joined Eliwood and Hector with plans to destroy the Black Fang and their leader Nergal's plans to bring dragons back to life. But now, she plans to stop any evil that gets in her way and blazes into the world of Project AT. So starting off with mechanics, Lyn is a featherweight fighter (about the weight value of Sephiroth) with some deceptively fast movement both grounded and airborne, she has 2 jumps and is only able to wall jump.

Basic Attacks

Now when it comes to making a moveset for Lyn in Project AT, they are mostly going to be pulling moves from a certain Warriors game known as Fire Emblem Warriors, and she’ll be making use of 2 main weapons and a side weapon with her main weapons being the Sol Katti and the Mani Katti and her sub weapon being Mulagir, she mainly wielded Mulagir in Fire Emblem Heroes with her role as an archer, so it allowed for a little bit of creativity.

Starting off with her jab, it’s a 3-hit jab that can lead into a rapid jab that starts with a right slash, followed by an upward slash then ending it in a downwards slam and if you initiate the rapid jab, she unleashes a barrage of slashes and ends it in a swift slash. Her dash attack has her sheath her blade then quickly charge forward while drawing her sword then slashes, this has quite a bit of start and end lag but it deals a deceptive amount of damage. Her side tilt has her quickly swipes horizontally with the Mani Katti; her up tilt has her swing her Mani Katti upwards then follow up with another overhead swing with Sol Katti, this 2-hit attack has some excellent vertical reach but doesn’t do much horizontally and the down tilt has her do a double sweeping slash with her Mani Katti and Sol Katti, this move does quite a bit of hurt but it doesn’t deal a lot of knockback.

For Lyn’s side smash, she brings out Mani Katti and Sol Katti and delivers a fast scissors slash, this has very little start and end lag but it isn’t very strong; her up smash is the first of her moves to make use of Mulagir and has her play a little game of Arrow Roulette, firing an arrow straight upwards, then after reaching its peak height it will start to fall. Don’t worry, unless the arrow is reflected, it won’t hurt Lyn, so you don’t have to worry about it landing on her. The arrow itself does a deceptive amount of damage and being hit at point-blank will deal even more, that said, hitting with this move is rather precise and the arrow gets slightly weaker when falling compared to when its rising, and her down smash has her deliver a quick sweeping slash to both sides with her two katanas, it’s incredibly fast on both start and end lag but doesn’t KO foes earlier than expected.

For her N-air, she does a horizontal spinning slash with both of her katanas extended, it deals multiple hits of damage before launching foes with the final hit; her F-air has her swing her katanas diagonally low to high; her B-air has her swing her fire an arrow from behind herself; her U-air has her swing her katanas outwards, this is a move that has 2 differing launch eagles depending on when the foe gets caught in the attack, if they were caught at the beginning of the move, it will normally launch them straight up, but if they were hit as soon as Lyn’s katanas spread out, they’ll actually launch foes at forward angles and her D-air has her slash her katanas straight down, it’s rather precise on the hitbox but it’s capable of spiking foes if it sweetspots.

Grabs

Lyn grabs with one arm and pummels with the hilt of her blade. Her forward throw has her simply slash at the foe; her back throw has her quickly move behind the foe at blinding speed then slash at them from behind; her up throw has her heave and chuck the foe upwards and her down throw has dash and rapidly slash at the foe at speeds so fast that she’s near invisible and deals a quick slash to launch the foe away.

Special Attacks

For Lyn’s neutral special, she makes use of the Bow of Swift Winds, Mulagir! This is going to, conveniently enough, be taking a page from Byleth in terms of how it functions. Tapping the special button has Lyn simply fire an arrow straight forwards, it travels at a moderate speed and near the full length of Battlefield and deals relatively weak damage and knockback, but holding down the button has Lyn twirl the arrow in her hand then fire straight forwards, it has a lot more start lag but the arrow travels ridiculously fast and covers the entire screen and being much more powerful, however, it does very little shield damage. And if the move is used in the air, it’s fired in a diagonal angle.

Her side special is a move that I’m gonna call Solstrike! This is a move that has Lyn dash towards a set distance that she becomes near-invisible and intangible to any melee attacks, then as she reaches her distance, she attacks with an overhead slash with Sol Katti, and during the dash, Lyn can leap away from any incoming danger simply by tapping in the opposite direction in which you initiated the dash. Lyn can also attack sooner simply by pressing the special button but she loses the intangibility frames, the other downside to this move is that while she’s immune to any melee attacks, she’s still vulnerable to projectiles, and while you don’t go into freefall, you can’t use it again while you’re in the air. The move itself is actually inspired by Lyn’s Beta animation of using Durandal.

Next, for Lyn’s up special, this is a move that I’m gonna call Luna Launch! This has Lyn perform a backflip leap spinning slash that travels at an above average vertical distance, however, that’s only if you tap the button, holding down the button has Lyn continue the spin until she touches the ground, dragging down any foes with her, much like with Corrin’s D-air, however, she will continue to spin until she touches the ground, so using it with no ground beneath you will guarantee a stock loss, though you could potentially use it for Lyncide, so there’s that. However, it’s rather different if Lyn’s spin connects with a shield, as it’ll actually cause her to frontflip and jump off it, much like with Greninja and the Belmont’s D-air. The move itself is inspired by one of her Musou Attacks in Fire Emblem Warriors.

And finally, for Lyn’s down special, this is going to be a very complicated special attack that is integral for Lyn’s Mix-up potential, which I’m going to call Sacae’s Illusion. This special acts as a makeshift counter, teleport and trap all at once that has Lyn leap backwards, whether on the ground or in the air, and she’ll leave an afterimage of herself doing a defensive stance. Now what this image does depends on how long you held down the button, if the button is tapped, the afterimage won’t do anything, it’ll just sit there and foes can walk through it, I’ll refer to these as Fake Sacaes, but if the button is held down, that’s when it become dangerous as if any foe too close to the afterimage, Lyn will automatically dash from wherever she is at blinding speed and attack the foe, when this happens, the afterimage will disappear, I’ll refer to these as Vantage Sacaes. Lyn can make up to 2 Sacaes on-screen at a time, making a third one will cause the oldest Sacae to disappear but one of them has to be a fake Sacae, you can only have 1 Vantage Sacae on-screen at a time and are able to have 2 Fake Sacaes. Lyn is also able to manually dash to the spot of the last Sacae she spawned, whether Fake or Vantage, but only by using the same input to create another Vantage Sacae while the Vantage Sacae is already on the field. She can also only manually dash while grounded, she can’t do so while airborne, she can only teleport airborne if a foe activates a Vantage Sacae. Every Sacae that Lyn spawns will automatically disappear after 10 seconds or whenever Lyn is KO’d. This move overall makes inspiration to her attack as an assist trophy.

Overall, when playing as Lyn, you need to take advantage of your mobility and exceptional frame data, she’s meant to be the textbook definition of a “Hit-and-Run” fighter, dancing around her foes much like how a leaf dances in the wind, which for someone like the Lady of the Plains, is rather fitting.

Echo Fighter: Eirika

The Princess of Renais, Eirika!

Eirika is the princess of Renais, only daughter of King Fado of Renais, and the younger twin sister of Prince Ephraim. When Renais is attacked by Grado, King Fado makes Eirika leave the castle with his trusted knight, Seth. When they leave the castle, they are met by Valter, a general of Grado. In order to protect Eirika, Seth attacks Valter, but gets hurt in the process. As the battle begins, Seth grabs Eirika and heads on to Frelia. Since Eirika has surprisingly similar stats and attributes to Lyn, she takes the chance to stop the war as Lyn’s echo fighter.

In terms of mechanics, Eirika is noticeably slower than Lyn but has slightly greater survivability (being around the weight value of Bayonetta). And she doesn’t wield the Sol Katti, Mani Katti and Mulagir but she instead wields the Sieglinde and the Shamsir, though it’s only an aesthetic change. And instead of using a bow, she instead uses several dark tomes for her Up Smash, B-air and Neutral special. Her Up Smash has her use Flux and summon an orb of darkness that will creep up above Eirika before exploding, this deals a ton of damage and has excellent disjoint but it also has a ton of end lag; her B-air has her use Fenrir, conjuring dark purple flames behind her that travel from low to high, this has a bit of vertical scoop but has significant landing lag and her Neutral Special has her use Ruin, conjuring a powerful dark explosion a fixed distance away from her, has significant start lag but deals much more damage and knockback.

Final Smash: Galeforce/Sacred Strike

For Lyn’s Final Smash, this will be a Final Smash that I’m going to call Galeforce! This has Lyn slash forwards and any foe caught in the attack will then be trapped, Lyn then turns her back to the foe as 4 illusions are formed beside and deal a decisive blow to the foe, then Lyn dashes straight to forwards to deliver the final slash, caught a burst of wind and air, launching the foe away! Afterwards, Lyn quickly slides to the spot she preceded to continue the fight once more. This attack references her critical hits.

And for Eirika’s Final Smash, I call this Final Smash Sacred Strike! Eirika conjures Gleipnir, and traps the foe in a gaping black hole; any foe caught in the hole will be pulled into its grasp. Ephraim then joins Eirika as they both dash forwards, dealing the decisive blow and the final smash ending with a large purple ball of fire crashing down on the foe, launching them away.

Miscellaneous

For colors, Lyn has had a lot of different costumes throughout Fire Emblem Heroes but I just decided to keep things simple and give her 2 costumes. Her default has her in the classic appearance since her debut and her alternate costume gives her the Swordmaster attire from Fire Emblem Awakening; her second alt gives her the default look with red hair and a dark blue qi, referencing Eliwood, one of the main characters in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade and her third alt gives her black hair and a purple qi, referencing Shannan, a Swordmaster from Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War; her fourth alt gives her the default look with blue hair and a violet qi, referencing Hector, another main character in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade and her fifth alt gives her Swordmaster attire cyan hair and a white qi, referencing Lucia, a Swordmaster in Fire Emblem: Path Of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and her sixth alt gives her default look green hair and qi, referencing Mark, the first custom character in the Fire Emblem series from The Blazing Blade and her final alt gives her brown hair and a red qi, referencing Ryoma, a Swordmaster from Fire Emblem Fates.

And for Eirika’s colors, her first alt gives her blue armor, referencing her twin brother, Ephraim; her second alt gives her pink armor with dark blue hair, referencing Tana, the princess of Frelia; her third alt gives her violet armor with pink hair, referencing Marisa, a merc that joins Eirika’s army; her fourth alt gives her red armor with blonde hair, referencing Amelia, the orphan from the small Grado village Silva; her fifth alt gives her dark purple armor and white hair, referencing the main antagonist of Fire Emblem The Sacred Stones, Fomortiis; her sixth alt gives her white armor with red hair, referencing the main protagonist of Fire Emblem Thracia 776, Leif and her final alt gives her gold armor with blonde hair, referencing the main protagonists of Fire Emblem Warriors, Rowen and Lianna.

For their stage intro, they warp onto the stage, nice and simple. For taunts, Lyn’s first has her raise her sword upwards while saying “Prepare yourself!”, this makes reference to whenever she uses Magic Swords; her second has her stretch her arms behind her head and yawns, referencing her idle animation in Fire Emblem Warriors and her final has her take out both her katanas, then spin them in place and pose, during this she says “As if I'd lose!” And for Eirika’s taunts, her first has her pose with her tome while saying "Witness my magic!"; her second has her point Sieglinde forwards and says "If this is war, so be it!" and her final has her cape blow in the wind and she says “I must meet this head-on!”

And finally, for victory animations, Lyn’s first has her twirl her bow in place then aims at the camera, during this she says "Find your target!"; her second has slide in from her afterimages and say “Next time, I’ll be even stronger!”, this references her victory animation in Fire Emblem Warriors and her final has her drop from above and sheathes her blades performing a cross slash, during this she says “Taste my blade!” And for Eirika’s victory animations, her first has her sheath her sieglinde and Shamsir then poses while saying “I cannot allow this!”; her second has her conjuring dark orbs of magic as they fly past the camera and she poses while saying "Just like Lyon!" and her final has her and Ephraim together in arms as they raise their weapons in victory, during this Ephraim says "You're a worthy opponent!"

And that is what Lyn is capable of in Project AT, with Eirika as an Echo Fighter! So this was pretty easy trying to come up with the moveset but trying to make a 3D render for Lyn was a pain since that the models I found were very rare, and I couldn't even find a model for the default Eirika, still, I'm just glad to finally upload this one. Anywho, if you have any questions on the moveset, leave them down below, and if you want to see more, then follow on me Reddit and Deviantart. I'll see you next time for the next fighter.
