A brief scene from the epic Veeblefitzer Alternate Universe' "War In The Pacific" (please see 'map' deev').
While focused on the threat from above, dive-bombing Veeblefitzer SBTV-1a's, distracting the ships AA gunners from the threat presented by a single Veeblefitzer-Boeing Ve-B-129 bomber on a fast, low level mission, to plunge a few 1,000 lb bombs into the guts of the Kingdom Of Japan's (KOJ) Imperial Japanese Navy's (KOJIJN) massive capitol aircraft carrier, the mighty Shinola (Japanese for "Shiny Clouds").
Surprised, and too late to stop the VB-129, the Shinola, takes three 1,000 lb bombs into her forward port-side.
Seconds later, her forward ammo magazine and aviation fuel cells erupted into what could only be described as a "Wagnerian" end to a great vessel and crew!
Tragically, no sailor survived this gross offense, committed by the evil..., British/Canadian/Empire (BCE)!

The KOJIJN aircraft carrier Shinola was powered with 20 turbo-supercharge'd 10,000 hp Veeblefitzer/Ford Motors, motors, which propelled the craft to speed exceeding 78 mph. Note the "rooster tails" rocketing-up from the propeller blast.

With appreciation for the colorist who transformed the original black-and-white photo into a Smithsonian Work-Of-Art.
