In ancient Greek religion and mythology, the Muses (Ancient Greek: Μοῦσαι, romanized: Moûsai, Greek: Μούσες, romanized: Múses) are the inspirational goddesses of literature, science, and the arts.

They were considered the source of the knowledge embodied in the poetry, lyric songs, and myths that were related orally for centuries in ancient Greek culture.

** Erato **

Erato is the index of love poems, marriage, (and poetry, music and dialectics). The name Erato from eresthai and from the word eros and lover. She was depicted seated, wearing a rhodostefano (wreath of roses), with the lyre and the bow of love in her hands and the inscription Erato Psaltrian. Apollonius of Rhodes begins the third chapter of the fourth part of the Argonauts with: "And now, Muse Erato, come to us and tell us how Jason brought the golden fleece from his suitor to Medea, for you have the favors of the Cypriot Venus and bring the magic in unmarried girls".
