“Ng, ah,hng…”
“Riaa, breathe! Please, breathe!”
“Ng? Hmm… Mmm… Hn, ahn…”
As Four opened a space in the ceiling, at least she could breathe again and taste oxygen. Meanwhile, the half-dead Riaa, still didn’t fully conscious. Her body was still jerking and her eyesight seemed to be blurred. Her mouth was just letting some water and incomprehensible sounds out. Four just wanted her partner to breathe. Thankfully, several minutes later, Riaa ‘s eyes started to focus.
“Hn, nn, ah… F-F-Four… You… W-w-what did y-y-you… Hn…?”
“I opened an air pocket in the ceiling. It was a gamble… So please, Riaa, breathe! Slowly, slowly…”
“Ha…. Nnn, ng,. Mm, I-I’m okay… I-I-I can… Breathe…Mm, ahng, uhh…”
Riaa started to take a deep breath. Even though before she was hugged by Four so she could float, later as her strength came back, she started to float herself. Her pale face started to show color. Four was very relieved to see her partner revived.
“Four… I’m, I’m sorry. I wasn’t…”
“It’s okay. We all make mistakes. Sometimes it’s just unbearable to not freak out when we see out goal in front of us, right?”
“Right! Right! When I see the egg, I just can’t stop being excited… And now, we’re…”
“I’m probably putting a lot of weight on you,” Four stopped Riaa’s sentence, “But I only can use my ability once. After this, no more air pocket… So please, Riaa. Concentrate. I believe in your ability.”
Riaa’s eyes widen as she received the hope from her fellow teammate. Then she smiled—as always, bright as the sun—and she started to look focused, “Okay then! Let’s do this. Four, I will swim as fast as I can, I hope you can follow! And don’t drown, okay?”
“That’s my line.”
The two laughed in that small space. Then they started to take the deepest breath they could and then they dived. After swimming for several meters, Four looked back to the air pocket, and thought that the real battle had just started.

Well, technically no, it shouldn't be possible to just make an air pocket like that. But hey, this setting has magic, so maybe the sword just makes the air in the space. Cool story regardless! I really like this setting.
