Description / Story
The words Fragile and Connection mixed together can create a variety of themes, which in my case, created a very sad, scenic view of the effects of war.
The story behind this is where Sumiko(澄子) lives her life during a generation of war. Her Father and two brothers all head off to war to defend their country. Soon after, Sumiko and her mother received two letters stating that Sumiko's father and eldest brother were both K.I.A. A month later, another letter arrived stating that Sumiko's second brother has not returned from a scout mission and is possibly P.O.W.
Tragic from the loss of her brothers and father, she begs her lover to not head off to war. Unfortunately, he is drafted to the army without her knowing. Due to her great losses Sumiko faced, her lover wanted to tell Sumiko that he'd stay alive. Thus he sent Sumiko a letter every week. Then, on the 58th week, it was the first time Sumiko had not received a letter.
On the 57th letter she received, the last sentence merely stated:
"I got promoted to the cavalry, they want me to do some scouting pretty often. Some involving going behind enemy lines, but don't worry, I'll come home as soon as I get discharged, I love you,"
From that day on, Sumiko will always wait outside, no matter what the weather is or what her condition is. She will always wait, day after day, until her love returns, like he had promised.

The "Fragile" is shown on the tragedy of the story where Sumiko can break any moment like a thin sheet of glass due to her losses.
The "Connection" is shown on the part where Sumiko and her lover had kept connection, despite the fact that her lover was in danger of death the whole time he was away.
