Description I was inspired to start drawing this Monday night. For those who know me, they know I professionally draw avian art. For some reason, this was the first time I can recall ever WANTING to draw an angel of any kind. I worked on this piece, relentlessly, as I couldn't quite get the left hand the way I wanted, but I refused to give up on it.

Wednesday, March 21, I learned the sad news of the untimely death of a high school friend, Molly Sullivan Levitt. Afterwards, I suddenly understood why I needed to draw this. I had already drawn everything but the background. The wings and hair were already colored before I knew of her death, and by Thursday morning I knew what I needed to do with this piece, and what background to design, and what the angel should be reaching for (I had been having difficult deciding both).

Those who knew Molly, and her tragic circumstances, will likely find symbolism on many levels in this image. I know I did once everything settled in my mind.

Unfortunately, I was never close to Molly, but from what I knew of her, she was brilliant, creative, and beautiful in all ways. She was the kind of person that inspires others to want to be better just by her mere presence.

Therefore, I'm dedicating this to Molly Sullivan Levitt and everyone is free to download it, in her spirit of giving.

If you would like a physical print, you can either purchase through Deviant Art or contact me directly and I can make arrangements with another trusted printer who does consistent, excellent work at more reasonable rates. I will pass on only the cost/shipping of the prints ordered as I don't wish to make any income from this work.

At the request of the family, via Destinee, the original will be displayed during Molly's Reception, where its ownership will then pass to her husband, Zack Levitt, per my donation.

UPDATE: I was able to deliver the framed original work successfully. The service and reception were beautiful, not a dry eye as they say. It started at 10am and I didn't return home until close to 4pm. It was a very emotionally draining day for me, but I firmly believe it was the right place and thing for me to do. Another strange thing occurred. I felt compelled to color the angel's skirt in shades of pink, even when I considered otherwise, I couldn't do it. At the service, pink flowers were on her coffin and her closest girl friends were dressed in pink. I didn't know this, but pink was her favorite color. I feel as though the pink was for me, was God reassuring me I was doing the right thing.

This is beautiful. And very touching. Once again, the wings are amazing, and you put soooo much detail in the hair!

Thanks, of course, I can see all my messes and errors. I rushed to finish it after I heard the news. I didn't stop for hours all the Thursday. Fortunately all the most delicate detail work of the wings was already done.
