Are you kiddin' me?  The Yamato Class ships were engineering marvels in their own right.  Not to mention looking really good in the process.

Marvels, yes. But they ended up being 150,000 tons of wasted steel. They could've had 6 aircraft carriers for that.

It don't matter.  They could've only build only one at a time anyway.  We had three carriers under construction after the Battle of Midway.  They had only enough man power to build one at a time.  Not to mention, by the time they figured out that the carrier WAS the key player on the field of war, it was already in our favor.  They were so desperate for carriers that one of the three Yamato class ship they had built was converted into a carrier.

No, they had multiple shipyards with the right capacity. In fact, to build Yamato, Musashi and Shinano, they had to massively enlarge existing drydocks.
