Oh sorry. Fallout: Equestria by Kkat. It's one of the most famous fanfics in the fandom, and has spawned countless spin-offs, some of them pretty good. The fic itself I think is the only one to be given a legendary tag on Equestria Daily, and I feel it deserves it. Fantastic fic, and still good if you haven't played Fallout before. Also, it's not like those crossovers where "suddenly pony in human Fallout world" or vice versa, but ponyverse that has taken Fallout aspects. If you played the game before, you may remember some locations or creatures, but it isn't just Fallout ponified either. Really long to. Sorry if that was more information than you wanted... Just I wasn't too hot for it either at the start because I don't enjoy crossovers that much.

I have heard the title before, now that you mention it, but I never did play fallout, so I never payed much attention. Though since you say it is still good even if you don't play the game, I'm putting that one on my to-read list.
In my experience, you get pointed to the best fics by others in the fandom, so yes, this is exactly what I wanted to know.

Playing the game does give you a good amount of background for things like how the environment looks, what kind of technology is out there, etc. But I'm pretty sure that if you haven't played before then you'll be fine. Maybe do a little reading beforehand on Fallout or some image searches. Honestly, I'm not really sure, as I played the game much before reading the fic. Also, not on fimficiton.net, but Equestria Daily has chapter by chapter links to it through google docs. Also, if you are interested in it, the title is JUST Fallout: Equestria. Most all spin-offs will have titles like Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons or Fallout Equestria: Pink Eyes. I hope you like it!

Well, I looked up the synopsis of the game on wikipedia, which set the story in context, and that was all I needed for the story. Currently reading chapter 10, and I'm really enjoying it! (been to bed late twice already, because of it, lol) Thank you for the recommendation and info!!

Haha really?! Awesome! The story of the Fallout game really has nothing to do with the Fallout: Equestria story, just a few places like Tenpenny (Tenpony) Tower and Philadelphia Ruins (Phillydelphia). Mostly just the looks of the DC wasteland was important. Glad to hear you are liking it! I think it's my one of my favorite fics, and I ended up reading it twice. Also, fair warning, it has some saucy/suggestive parts, but those aren't the focus of the story, they are there just to add to it. I don't like that stuff normally, but it doesn't get into clop or anything. Just a warning, because when I got to that part I worried if the story would turn for the worse, but it doesn't. Enjoy~

Well, suggestive parts, or even a little clop are fine with me, especially if it flows naturally from the story. Better than an author writing a love interest but forever beating about the bush about sex for fear of upsetting some of his readers.
I would be more put off by the many visual descriptions of the blood and gore. But in the case of this story, while there is a lot of it, it only sets the background and environment in which the characters develop, adding a necessary and interesting dimension to the characters and story. Which makes me want to keep reading. It is not the point of the story (like with "CupCakes").
And don't worry, I will not hold you responsible if there turn out to be parts or aspects in the story that I don't like.

I was just making sure you were prepared. Like you, now I'm fine with a some physical romance/clop, as long as it's not the purpose of the story, but adds to it. Earlier, I used to think all romance bad, but it grew on me quick, as long as it adds to the story overall. I guess the gore can get pretty disgusting, but I'm normally okay with it, once again if it adds to the story and sets the scene (still haven't read Cupcakes, almost did, but decided to try again later after 5 words). Glad to hear you like it though!
