I agree with another comment, about how the mask reflects so perfectly Gin's personality. In this picture we can maybe see the physical removal of the mask representing a small lowering in Gin's deceptiveness... also finally allowing us to see his eyes

Tousen had a fully hollowfied form (first mask only, then a full-blown hollow), so I think it is safe to assume Gin here has had the same treatment. Wonder if his mask looks like that kitsune mask...
