A little experimental sketch!It's different but I hope you like it
All done in photoshop by painting everything in black and white, and then putting the layer in multiply on top of an old scroll texture I found on google!

Indeed! I was just watching a documentary about him the other day and it's always sad when you find out that a person who makes work that you really like (I love his creation of Cosmic Horror) isn't a good human being. I do think that some of his racist and xenophobic ideas come from his education and time, but I still feel like it's no excuse, specially for someone who seems like a smart person who could think on his own.

I was quite surprised too and while I don't deny his reponsability in what he was, I think he would have been a different man if he had a better life, he was very sick and quite unlucky I think so he began growing a powerful hatred towards those who were different. Hey at least he didn't do anything wrong unlike that other dude in the 40s.......

I've only read The Mountains of Madness, but I did some sort of passage from lovecraft about an obelisk in some lake, which was the inspiration for this. Not sure if that's the book you are talking about, but the whole image is definitely inspired by lovecraftian horror

That's definitely the short story Dagon by H.P. Lovecraft. It's the only story by him that features it.Β
