Remember the Namekians oldest leader and father Guru? I've read some info about him and Kami being the only survivors of the climate cataclysm on Old Namek in the year 261. He later as a person born few years before the tragedy felt the responsibility to repopulate his race so it wouldn't die out.What we know about Guru more is that he was over 500 years old in the "DBZ : Namek Saga" had powers to unlocke one's potential, was a telepath and the creator of the powerfull Dragon Balls on New Namek.
He knew about the Legend of a Super Saiyajin and that Kami's powerlevel (before seperation to Piccolo Daimoe) was a good match to such a power.

---My fan character profile---
Those stories and information motivated me to make a Young Guru that in my opinnion (fan idea) just like Lord Slug he was a Super Namekian (but his powers were discovered a week before Slug's so he was 1st) who's power would rival to a actual Super Saiyajin.
He had many enemies, fights, traveling and adventures before he found his one and true 'New Namek".

That must be long before the great flood, where he drank all the water the recede the levels, and even longer before the great drought and purge, where he shifted the blame to the filthy albino Namekians. And, still longer, before he met NAIL!

In something you say is true ...HAHAHA. Nevertheless I have a funny yet realistic theory on why he became so "huge".
After the destruction of the original Planet Namek he thought of being the only survivor. He was a young adult that traveled with his spaceship to a new location (future Namek). The planet had a proper atmosphere to live yet it didn't had many life itself (blossoming trees, peacful animals, clean water) so he decided to take care of the enviroment all by himself. After a year the first colorfull and full of fruits tree has grown. Still it was only one miracle over a whole planet. Guru eventually realized that he couldn't manage to "reborn" the enviroment all by himself and also felt lonely. So he decided to spit the first 5 eggs from which the new Nameks were born that in the future would help their father give new life to their future home. After about 25 years of hard work the planet had become cleaner yet still only by 20%. Sadly the more polluted part of it was slowly mixing with the cleaner part so the 6 Nameks efforts were being demolished mostly every year. Guru understanding that there is still much to do and not enough people to help decided to spill another 10 eggs. Creating so many children over the years has made him thinner and weaker so he couldn't reapeat such a task very often. For Nameks water was life and the only true thing the needed to live so Guru was drinking it to return to his body to it's previous shape. He was drinking water regularly yet didn't have time to train even if a warriors blood was flowing through his veins. Thanks to that he could't keep a proper shape yet discovered that by having a "bigger" body he had a better chance of survivng the proces of spitting more eggs and restore not only his race but create new "hands" that will help restore the planet quicker. Over the years Guru gave birth to a new population of Namekians. There were ordinary, magical and warrior type's. The last one's are the most important because thye were created from parts of Guru's power as a Super Namekian. He felt that it was impossible for him to protect everyone of his children scatter over the planet so wanted to create 3-6 guards for every village there was. His powerlevel had decreased to a level where he could only spit 2-5 eggs once per 20 years and perform simple magic such as releasing one's true potential. In time he also made one difficult effort and created the Dragon Balls which would help his people in situations where he couldn't do much. Nevertheless he warned his children that the magic dragon is a saintfull element that can only be summoned when true evil and catastrophe happens.

Can't deny that he does yet Gast is a Super Namekian who's base body is Nail's fused with other Namekians (Guru aswell).
Here on the other hand we have Guru himself - a seperate being who was born as a Super Namekian.

Heh ... tutaj lat ma około 30, bo wyczytałem, że autentycznie urodził się przed katastrofą ekologiczną na Namek, w którym tego samego dnia rodzice Kamiego wysłali przyszłego obserwatora/obrońce Ziemi w kosmos. Zakładam tak lekko rachunkowo, że Guru mógłby mieć w tamtym okresie zaledwie 5-10 lat i podróżował w swoim statku, aż nieco dojrzał.
Waga i wzrost? Hmmm ... jako młokos był zwyczajnej wagi i wzrostu, jak każdy przedstawiciel swojej rasy, lecz z czasem, gdy życie zaczęło opierać się na przetrwaniu i dojrzał był o 25kg cięższy oraz 30cm wyższy od Piccolo.

Dobra w skrócie:
Wysokość Piccolo i waga to dokładnie 190,5cm oraz 115,7kg, zaś Guru ma 220,5cm oraz 140,7 kg.
Ten 1 link wyżej miał naocznie pokazać różnice wielkości między samym Piccolo a Goku, więc Guru byłby całkiem wysoki.

When he found the wright home peacefull times have finaly arrived since no wars or dangerous inhabitants were found on a new planet. It had just few species of animals and plants so it was a poor ekosystem. Luckly Guru left his old home with some samples of plants from the dying planet.
By that time he created his Dragon Balls with the mystic dragon Porunga which would support him in making New Namek better and safer. After fixing it a bit many years later he laid a couple of eggs and gave life to his children. Afterwards when the "new Namekians" had grown up Guru's role in reparing the planet began shrinking to the point where his role has ended. As the leader - helping and guaiding the children and adults to the wright way of life became his only mission.
Nevertheless we will never know how he got so "huge" in his tummy since less work and drinking only water wasn't the possibility. xD
