Nice, definitely a cool image. Reminds me of an old story idea I had. Apparently a fantasy world, but when you dug deep enough, you realized it was very high tech.

"They've lied to us all along..."
Tim couldn't tear his eyes off the glowing wonder they had unearthed. His voice trembled as he spoke, but a smile found it's way to his face. A mix of different emotions danced through him: bitterness for the lies they had told him, satisfaction to have proven himself right, fear at the sight of something he didn't even have words to describe, excitement at having the dull, grey monotony of everyday life shattered into a thousand shining, sapphire pieces... "The old man was right; there really is more to this place then the eye can see!"
Lissy was still holding one of the stone plates in front of her, as if to hide behind it. Torn between curiosity and worry, she leaned over it to gaze at the cool blue light. "Tim, I don't like this..."
Tim wasn't listening. "And they knew! They must have known all about it, all along! This explains everything..."
"Tim!" Lissy almost yelled. Tim awoke from his trance and snapped his head up to look at her. "I don't like this," she repeated in a lower voice.
Tim had to admit that he was worried as well. Whatever was going on, allot of people didn't want anyone to know about it. But at the same time, he was thrilled. He knew that this was the source of every strange and bizarre event that had occurred in their lives up to that point. "How far do you think this runs? All over the garden? The entire estate?"
Lissy drew a deep breath and shook her head. "Let's... Lets just put the stones back and forget we saw this, okay?"
"But we can't!" Tim said. "Don't you see? They're hiding something from us, something fantastic! And I'll bet you anything it has something to do with my dad. Probably yours too! And this..." he looked at the luminescent machinery before them "...this is the key to the mystery!"
Lissy bit her lip. Mentioning her father wasn't fair. He knew she would do anything to find out more about Dr Emerson. "Tim... we don't even know what this is!"
Tim brought his hand closer to the glow, ignoring Lissy's slight gasp. The low hum grew in volume as a warmth spread through his hand and up his arm, chasing away the chill of the autumn night. His fingertips tingled. His hand stopped just inches above the device, as if an invisible force was pushing it back. He recalled early memories of his father, speaking of magnetism, but he instinctively realised that this was something entirely different.
"No," he said. "But we're going to find out!"

What? You did suggest I make up my own story. That's 443 words, by the way. (Ha! Take that, picture!)
Oh, and this is going to my favourites. Like, immediately.

I could really so somthing in your art. I am a writer and that could reall lead to a great story. I posted it as one of my favorites. Is it ok if I make a story out of it?

Awe inspiring (like always, I'm a great fan of everithing incorporating the "truth is not wahat it seems" idea) , but this is so much more- an excellent concept, materialised in a very convincing yet distinctly fantastic image.
The "create your own story" aproach is also very effective, stimulating the viewer's imagination trough a series of very precise details, that leave us none the wiser in the respect of the overall plot....
The touch of steampunk and the anachronicity of it all also add a lot to the sheer beauty of the drawing.

Wow; this is excellent!
I was getting used to glossing over the daily devs--a lot of them seem to be passably good pictures/paintings of pretty girls, without much point or visual punch. But this really deserves the dev; the composition's strong, the colors and the lighting are to die for, and the concept is just plain neat. I love the sort-of storybook style.
