Description
Inhale color, inhale light.
Close your eyes and exhale your sorrow and regret.
Inhale the sacred light surrounding you, wherever you may be.
Be color, be light.
INTERCESSION
Rows of wax pillars
in glass votive holders
radiate ruby glow
onto Virgin’s likeness.
A veiled mourner slips her donation
into wrought iron slot,
touches match to pristine wick,
then kneels on worn velvet cushion.
whispers fervent prayers
for release of husband’s soul.
Father hears confessions
in a dark booth, fashioned
for recounting sinful secrets.
Scattered in pews,
new penitents finger rosaries
to seal God's forgiveness.
Late afternoon light
pierces stained glass,
flooding the sanctuary
with miraculous color.
No one takes notice.
